slow down

Hey ,

I have a song that is a little fast. What software will slow this  finished 2-track w/o artifacts or any degradation?

thanks

Sonar's "Audiosnap" will do that. See this video on my Youtube page on how to do it.

I always use the Process-Length command (with the Radius Mix Advanced algorithm). Easy, with good results so long as the length difference isn't too great (+/- one or two percent is usually all I need to get a more satisfying feel).

Karl, you're the expert: What advantages of using Audiosnap instead of Length (or even ctrl-stretch) for this?

I suggest creating a copy of the project, and running it through both and then deciding which sounds better.

Sometimes stretching/shortening can cause little artifacts can appear, and this may occur with one method and not other, or it may not happen with either, or it may happen with both.

Just give it a shot with both and compare the results and go with what your ears tell you.

Hi Sven, I'm not sure I'd call myself an expert. I know what I know but that definitely isn't everything....

AFAIK the actual render process used would be the same. I also think both methods have their advantages. Length (& Ctrl-stretch) are probably easier and quicker to perform whereas Audiosnap gives greater control but is a little more complex to achieve.

I also done my great trick of half reading a question and missed the "two track" part. Audiosnap would be better suited to multitrack than the other two options but for a simple two track, length or ctrl stretch would be easier. The only advantage of Audiosnap in that situation that I can think of is the ability to specify a tempo.

Just remember after you change length, you need to bounce the clip to itself to render with the high-quality offline algorithm.

Or if you're quick (for the sale price) this might do the trick(?) (I have no experience in the product).
