slow response time
Suddenly, on playback, the line that moves as the music plays is jumping and not moving continuously. It kind of jumps from one measure to the next (although it's not precisely moving by measures). In addition, when I hit the space bar, it takes a second or two to stop playing. Similarly, there is a delayed response when I attempt to change the volume of a track. I pull the volume bar, or in console view, I move the slider, and it takes a second or two for the slider to actually move. It's as if X1 suddenly is starved of resources and can't process. Having said all of that, the actual playback sounds fine. Any thoughts? Thanks Eric

Check under Options>Audio to see what mode the driver is in (MMC, WDM or ASIO). Sounds like maybe a latency issue offhand. ASIO is best, followed by WDM, and MMC is the worst (highest latency). Is it possible your driver mode has changed as you seem to imply the issue wasn't there previously?

Sounds like you've hit the pause key by mistake. It's a resource saving feature. EDIT: Hit pause again to get out of it.

FastBikerBoy Sounds like you've hit the pause key by mistake. It's a resource saving feature. Is this new in X1? What does hitting the pause key do exactly? Enquiring minds want to know. (See, I am doing my homework)

Not new, it's always been there.Pause key will reduce the gui updates, scroll lock stops them completely. It's a very common 'complaint'. It's easy to press one or the other accidentally and then wonder why the scroll is either jerky or not happening at all. Been like that for as long as I can remember.

Bristol_Jonesey Scroll lock is another one that catches a lot of people out I got caught myself with a keyboard with no scroll lock key not so long ago. I knew what the problem was but couldn't work out how I'd done it or how to fix it. It turned out that there's a key combo for scroll lock, ctrl+Pause IIRC. Wasted an hour or so trying to work that out.

Hey, guys. Is there a menu or setting option to control that type of timeline behavior? John and FBB helped me figure out some of the wackiness in regards to controlling how the timeline behaves during playback but there has to be a way to do it VIA X1's GUI. I suck at remembering key bindings. Cheers.

Hi there Beepster.......Not that I'm aware of. It's only accessible via the pause key for the "Stutter" effect or "Scroll Lock" for the er..... locked scrolling. There is a similar option which is in the TV menu....Options--->Click Behaviour--->"Left click locks scroll" That is slightly different to scroll lock though because the scroll won't be locked until you select something to edit such as a clip. Once you've done that scrolling stops until you left click in the TV background area. The Pause key and Scroll lock catches a lot of people until they are aware of it. HTH

So when I opened the project, lo and behold, no problems. Go figure. I did go with ASIO just for the helluvit, as an afterthought, perhaps a prophylaxis? Best, Eric

After a reboot? Pause key, try it and see, press the pause key and see if you get the same behaviour.
