so.... Cake will extend their X3 update offer...don't ya think?
I'm right now getting things together for a new custom build, that will also require a new audio interface, since the Layla is a PCI...and don't want to skimp on the computer if I can. So.... upgrading to X3 would be another $149 right now, and I wouldn't be able to install or use it probably for a bit as well, until the new computer plops on my doorstep... plus it's another $149 The new computer is basically so I can get X3, but realize I need the computer first! Oh well...if it's 7PE to X3 back to $199 (or more?) in the near future, that isn't really all that much. Would like to save 50 bucks and see the sale continue for another month. That said, wonder why they're so hot on the special offers with X3...which seems to have been awhile now.

I think the round of shows like NAB, Musicmesse are over and Sonar's had rave reviews after 5 successful updates that have really shown Cakewalk's commitment to the user base as many of the features are a direct result of user feedback.
The Gibson move and the promise that seems to be bringing is all positive, what better reason to have an ongoing special to not only get current users to update but also bring many new users into the fold. I don't think there's been a better time for Cakewalk.
You could still take advantage of the special now and install later. Just because you have the software doesn't mean you have to install it. Eg I bought 3 x Win 8 licences when they were being sold for $39 for my 3 PCs. I've only installed two so far, but there's no time limit to make use of the licences.

What he said. Just buy Sonar now and download it to another computer. Then you'll have it ready to go when your new computer gets to you.
Funny, I did almost the same thing with Win8 - I bought two licenses when it was going for $40 and I've only used one license so far.

As others said, if you have the money, you can buy X3 now. You can even download it later. Plus, you can install it later. As for me, I wont have the money til April 1, so I hope Cakewalk let's me still get the loyal customer bargain deal of $150. I plan to make the purchase on April 1st, too, sometime about 5:00am EST, as soon as my pay kicks in. :) Come on Cakewalk? Surely you can give us 1 more day leeway? You're about to make some money from me, as I'm about to get X3 Producer, and the Cakewalk ProChannel Pack $179. That's at least $329 you're about to make from me. I don't get paid til the 1st on every month (and so does a good number of others,) so it's also a good idea to extend these specials to at least the 1st of the following month after they start, as they usually start after the 1st of the month. That way there's a potential for Cakewalk to make more money. :) When I bought X1, I also bought the disks for about an xtra $30. I also want to get X3 Producer on Disks, but I don't see that purchase option available, anymore. Does anyone know if it's still possible to get the Producer version on disks in addition to getting the download version? Concerning the Overloud VKFX - Suite & ProChannel Bundle, does anyone know if these Prochannel modules require iLok? The only Prochannel modules I know of that required iLok were the Softube bundle modules, but I don't know about the Overloud bundle. Cakewalk and forum users, thanks for any help you can give me in any of these matters.

My suggestion would be to buy SONAR X3 Producer now at the special price. It won't be extended.

yeah bummer. I don't have a computer yet to install it on and after saving for the new computer and interface, not sure I'll have the extra $149. Like I said, if it goes up to $199, I'll just save for that.

Maybe dumb question...can I just buy it (and any other specials), and just have it residing in my account until I'm ready "to partake", so to speak? I have nothing to download it to at this point, unless I just do it all to an external drive. But that seems silly, UNLESS that's my only option. It might be a month...but hopefully much less, that I'd be ready to use it. Actually the idea is that I'd rather put the $149 in my computer NOW and then in a bit I can start getting all the software that I want.

Yes, after purchasing, the download links hang out forever in your store account. The clock on the Melodyne Editor upgrade starts when you install and register Melodyne Essential. The Addictive Drums download will also wait until you are ready to install it.

I'm interested in this upgrade. Where do I find the pricing? Is it the U.S. 299 I see on their site? I'm getting X3 Producer next month, and I want to know how to get this upgrade ASAP.

When registering Melodyne Essential, Celemony provide a 10 day window to upgrade to Editor for $149. I do not believe the information is published anywhere except on the screen generated by Celemony when registering.

Yes, you will have access to the download links after your purchase so when you are ready, you can download and install.

That's good news, scook. I will be upgrading to Editor, then. Thanks for the info.
