so now the end is near.......

So it really does look like this forum is coming to an end very soon.
I just wanted to say a big thank you to all the people who have contributed and helped me over the years - it really has been a lot of fun.

Don't forget there are still ways you can post your music - there is the excellent Beyond My Daw (set up by the lovely Bapu)
http://www.beyondmydaw.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=3
...and the new Bandlab forum which seems to pretty much mirror this site
https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/forum/30-songs/

Hope to see you on the other side
Happy New Year
Daryl

A big +1 to that, I've really enjoyed this particular section of the forum.

I used to enjoy it.

The constant tactical bumping ruined it IMO. I'm hoping that the new one will be different.

Yeah, that bugged me too.

And I wish I could find a forum for acoustic singer-songwriters where people just post links to videos accompanying themselves on guitar, banjo, piano and such playing and singing live (whether in the studio or at a gig), where the focus is on the song and arrangement rather than studio productions. Real people playing real instruments. That's what I search for at YouTube.

I didn't post any songs and didn't comment much but was a frequent visitor and enjoyed listening. Thanks to all the contributors!

Did you ever try Songstuff?  http://www.songstuff.com/
It's a mighty big forum though.  I quit posting there about 10 years ago because it got too big, but it does have a slew of subforums.

There's also;

http://www.thesongwritersforum.com/forum/

I did join the second one of those many moons ago looking for an alternative to this, but never actually posted anything. Weird kind of feel to the place and people would actually complain if the lyric wasn't typed out for them in the song post. At least the loonies here were occasionally entertaining.

Why is it that even though I agreed with you it seems like I did something wrong?

Agreeing with James is wrong? Ok, I guess I did do something wrong then. Guilty as charged.

Maybe the monkey collective should write a song about that and see if you can get one more on the first page before the doors are closed?

I poke my nose in here at least once a week always. A lot of times I feel it best not to comment on the songs that are posted as I don't like saying nasty things to people who are honestly trying their best to create art. But I have often found some amazing recordings mostly seem to be from those who have been at this for a long time. This forum is a wonderful tool you can use to get honest no **** peer feedback on your handywork. The new forums Song forum I do think will carry on nicley for us.
It's cool when you think about what we can now do with our music. I certainly wouldn't have been sending any of you guys Cassettes :)
