soft synths

When I record something and choose the instrument it seems it is not set.
If you unplug the keyboard and play it back it losses it's sound. How do I go about "finalizing the sound" of the particular track?
When you add an effect to one track it adds the effect to every track. Somewhere I must be missing a step, right?

When you Insert a soft synth, you need to go to the MIDI track(s) and change the outputs to the soft synth. If the patch you selected in the original MIDI track is a General MIDI (GM) patch, in many cases the soft synth will play that patch, too.
If you don't change the MIDI track's output to the soft synth and unplug the keyboard, the MIDI data is still being sent to the unplugged keyboard, hence no sound.
Is it a MIDI effect in the MIDI track? Make sure all your MIDI tracks are on different channels.
If it's an audio effect, I don't know why that would happen unless the effect is in a shared audio bus.

Yeah... the settings in the midi source track where the data is recorded should not change. You can always bounce the synth to audio..... highlight the track (MC5) and select bounce to track OR click the track (right click) and scroll down to FREEZE, and select freeze synth. It writes the audio as you hear it so it doesn't get lost.

For more on midi and channels and patches in TTS... go to my web site and read the stuff I have there.... it might help you to understand a bit more about midi, synths, and TTS.

what do you mean by "if you unplug the keyboard and plug it back it loses it's sound?"  the keyboard being unplugged and replugged shouldn't have anything to do with SOFTSYNTHS.

    Hey Beagle,
I'll have to get back with you once I do it again to give you a play by play. I can't remember the details, it was too traumatic! :)

    Hey Herb,
On your site it say's to start your new project on "normal", I was staring mine on blank as far as I can remember, does that make a difference?

No... it doesn't matter... I suggested NORMAL since it gives you a midi track and an audio track to start with. In a blank template, you have to add them manually... either way works.....

I suggested the Normal since it gives what you need for the demo on my site IIRC...

If you follow the instructions... you should have your questions answered.
