sonar 3 crapping out and shutting off track

I am using a dell laptop 1.6 processor 512 of ram and a m-audio firewire 410. I keep getting a loud crack and then it shuts off my track. Its really bad when I used amplitube liked what I heard and was able to record a track. I copied the effect to track 2 and armed it. CRAK off goes the track but It works fine If I take the effect off. Seems like a hot signal is turning it off or something. Not sure please any advice?

p.s is there any way to reduce the latency coming out of the monitors or headphones when I click input echo? If not thats lame because recording vocals like this is impossible if looking for good results. Thanks again

What is your latency setting in Sonar? What sample rate/Bit depth are you using?

I don't use the maudio Firewire 410, but assuming that it has Maudio Control Panel software similar to that used for the Delta 1010...

Are you sure you really need input echo? Would you not get what you are wanting by simply using the Maudio Control Panel Software to send your live tracks and your previously recorded wave files all out through the Maudio Monitor Mixer? Then connect your headphone amp (physically) to whichever physical output the Monitor ZMixer is being sent to. Or do you really need to monitor it with software FX in real time? Or have I missed the point?

I understand what you are saying but I have not figured out anyway to monitor without the hideous input echo on. yes 410 has settings but I tried everythin.

oh ya anyone know was causing my track to crap out?

My first guess would be that you don't have enough RAM to run Amplitube and Sonar.

I'm pretty sure it must be possible - our portable studio PC uses a Delta 1010 and this works fine without input echo. Check within the monitor mixer that your inputs are not muted, are panned to the centre, and the volume up to a reasonable level. From memory, I think the default settings are odd - you may need to change them.

Glad you've got one problem solved ... meanwhile, did Phrauge's advice help with the other problem or are you still searching?
