Depending where you purchased: 1. Could be on a yellow sticker inside the DVD case starting with CWSP600 for SONAR Producer 6 2. Could be in an email sent to you if you ordered online. 3. If none of these cases is true its best to Call them. here

Make sure the serial number email wasn't stopped by your (or your ISP's) spam filter.

Just got my new sonar 6 . where is the serial # located so I can Install?? Thanks I never received an e-mail from Cake regarding serialization, etc. - just a confirmation of my order. I was able to easily find the info by: 1. Heading to cakewalk.com 2. Hovering over "purchase" in the upper left corner and selecting "Cakewalk Store" 3. Clicking "My Account" - upper middle of page 4. Creating an account and logging in. I assume the system matched on my e-mail address because it listed my 5 or 6 purchases back as far as Sonar 2 - and my physical address has changed. For SONAR 6 it clearly listed my Serial Number and Registration Code. Ted Chmura III - Composer TC3 Music

If you ordered through the Cakewalk Online Store, you can login to the store and retrieve your serial number and registration number. Visit http://store.cakewalk.com and log in using the email address you used when ordering. Oops, I see Ted already posted this info. Good job, Ted!

Thanks for the info Tom. It might be of help to customers to include this information somewhere in the package; for example, on the READ THIS FIRST! yellow flyer. Something like: 1. Before installation, if your serial number does not appear in your package, logon to the Cakewalk Online Store at http://store.cakewalk.com using your email address with which you ordered to retrieve your serial number and registration code to complete the installation. It might help. This upgrade has been a most frustrating process. I've been a registered user since version 4. It has taken me two months to upgrade. First, the cakewalk store would not recognize Canada as a country or accept VISA from a Canadian bank. Emails were simply never answered. The 888 and 800 phone numbers to Cakewalk do not work from Canada. Calling long distance to Boston left me on hold twice (I'm a sucker) for 60 minutes each time listening to what a great company Cakewalk is while I'm on hold. I finally got the second blast email offering the upgrade packages and again ordered through the now repaired store. I must say it did arrive quickly. However, the frustrating search for a serial number left me feeling a bit like a sucker again even before running the program. I sure hope I like the upgrade! :)

I'd like to spout off about this issue too (I'm pretty pissed...) I've been a Sonar user since 2.x and every single time I end up screwing around looking for the serial number that is supposedly e-mailed to me. This comes from http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/kb/kb2005281.asp: "When you buy a new Cakewalk product such as SONAR 6, SONAR Home Studio 4, or Pyro 5 directly from Cakewalk, your serial number and registration codes are emailed to you, using the address you provided during your purchase." That simply has NEVER been the case for me! Cakewalk could at very least remove this information and put the correct information (as posted previously in this thread- thanks!) so people don't end up wasting time looking through e-mails, FAQs, Knowledge Bases, blah, blah, blah that really don't offer the correct help! OK- I've spouted off my frustrated. pagoda

(For 5 and 6 (had the buy 5 for free 6)) the methodology was changed. So you are somewhat incorrect. BUT in terms of better guidance since 5 and 6 were release I agree. Cake boys and girls need (after the experience of 2006) to issue something either in the box of have a deicated section pinned to the top of the forum FAQ for purchases, which give instructions. this should be done immediately without delay and using a different colour font so folks who are distressed after their purchase can easily find it.
