sonar X3d take lanes visual suggestion
much is said about take lanes but this time it's a visual feedback :) I have a hard time to easy see what is a track and what is a take lane(s), because , visually they look the same and a few lanes later the song is much harder to "read" (separate tracks from take lanes visually) this icludes the track selection is also hard to see what track I have selected ( yes, the track name bg field gets blue but is hard to see easy, maybe the whole track should be lit?)... here is an example , this song is pretty clean , you should see some of the others where it becomes much much harder to distinguish tracks from take lanes, they all blend together... BEFORE and here is a rough mockup where I tried to make tracks / take lanes easier to distinguish: AFTER (have them both loaded, 100% view and A/B compare the pics) any thoughts?

I use a dual screen setup and determining the lanes from tracks is not a big issue for me. I stretch the GUI across both screens and have 'ALL' selected for track view and the audio wave/clips displayed on the other screen with the splitting bar between both screens. With that said, the after looks more discernible to me.

I use dual screen too, LEFT = track view, RIGHT = console view, but I don't get how you mean? can you show a screenshot?

I don't think he needs to look at his own screenshots. It was the OP asking Guitarmech111 for an example of his dual monitor set up.

I have posted requests earlier asking that Lanes be a related-sub-color or user selectable color as I too often confuse which is lane and which is track.... Please post Feature Requests if you haven't already... http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/FeatureRequest.aspx Keni

Maybe doing as they do with frozen tracks and keeping the changes related to the parent track?

I personally don't think this is an unreasonable request. I would love to see Take Lanes take on a more indented approach with colors (perhaps maybe making the Tracks convex, and the Take Lanes concave in shading?). For take lanes to have a subtle darker shade of the Track background color would also be useful. I have a 30" cinema screen and a 24" side screen. Even with the large monitor, I still find that I get lost in all the Take Lanes vs. tracks. One slight problem I see is that the Lanes have the exact same size buttons as the Tracks. If they were 20$ smaller, that would help. The current indented structure of Lanes is quite subtle on a large monitor. On a smaller monitor, the indented Take Lanes are easier to see. More, the background color of the Take Lanes is the same as the Track, so if you were only viewing the middle of the screen on a larger display, the difference is indistinguishable. I would highly suggest Feature Requests. I'm not trying to encourage trolling here, but I do agree that to see a change here would likely take more willing souls to ask for it.
