sonar home studio

hi.

will replacing my old sonar 8.5 with the new home studio version be an actual upgrade? what's the differences?
can the home studio version export directly to mp3 and mix down multiple midi tracks into multiple audio tracks in one single take? sonar 8.5 can't do any of this as far as i can see.

thanks,

Look at this comparison to help you make an informed decision:
http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/Versions

If you can go with a Max of 64 tracks and only 8 channels of Input/Output, then this may be the way to go.
Need more Tracks, step up to Artist.  Want more Instruments or need Pro Channel get Professional.  Want the whole ball of wax?  Get Platinum.  Lovingly called SPLAT.

I started with Home Studio several years ago, upgraded to Professional (they didn't have "Artist" then), then when I was able I upgraded to Platinum.  It has a lot I don't use, but what I need is always there!

Best of Luck!

SPLAT on a Home built i3 16 GB RAM 64-bit Windows 10 Home Premium 120GB SSD (OS) 2TB Data Drive.  Behringer XR-18 USB 2.0 Interface. FaderPort control.

Hi, Paul. I agree with Pat on this. And the MP3 patent has expired, so it's free now in all versions (might even be for 8.5 as well).
I would suggest you demo Home Studio, just to see if it is enough for you.
In fact, I would demo them all to see what I would want
All the best.

Yes, the mp3 unlock program works for SONAR 4 and newer. It is now free.
