sonar professional and Scarlett 6i6

Hi
 
Does anyone know how to record midi to Audio In Pro as I have tried a 101 times with no success ,just blank.
I have configured Sonar Focusrite drivers for in and out on preferences and set up the Scarlett
For normal vst and midi recording with daw tracking and I can record soft synths and midi and they playback ok.
It Is when I want to mix down a midi track to audio ,I get nowhere.
I have tried for a week now and tried all combinations I could think of,but just get a blank track .
I own a Tyros5

Midi out to in On the Scarlett 6i6
midi out of scarlett 6i6 to midi in of my Phatboy control surface
Midi out of control surface back to the Tyros 5 In
 
I have line out of Tyros 5 to line in of the Scarlett 6i6
Line out of Scarlett 6i6 to line In Tyros 5.
Then i have a the usb to the computer

To me that Is the right set up and the green midi and usb lights up on the Scarlett 6i6.
I am doing something silly or I have gremlins.
The fact that I can play and record soft synths vst's and my Tyros sounds shows there is communication back and forth from keyboard - Scarlett6i6 - computer.
There Is something I may be doing wrong choosing drivers  and that Scarlett Control Panel.
I am totally frustrated with this as a year ago I had It working,but something has changed that I cannot put my finger on.
Some daws just let you bounce midi to audio like the earlier Sonar versions like processing without having to play the track through or printing a track.
 
If there Is anyone that can help me here ,I would be most grateful.

    First if you can play a project and it plays all your VST sounds then all you do is EXPORT the project and it will create a wave file of the song. 
    Read instructins for exporting audio. 
    There are other ways to bounce or freeze soft synth too, read up about that as well. 
     
    Your routing is overly complicated to me and at no point do you mention how the Tyros is sending midi data into Sonar. Is it the "USB to computer" you mention? 
     
    But you must have that figured out as you are saying   "The fact that I can play and record soft synths vst's and my Tyros sounds shows there is communication back and forth from keyboard - Scarlett6i6 - computer." 
     
    The question I have is , are you hearing the soft synths when you play the Tyros? Have you set up the VST to recieve the midi output of the Tyros? If it is a MIDI conction then that would be the Scarlett, if it is a USB midi conection then you will need the Tyros midi drivers installed and it will show as an input device.

    I can record vst instruments and I can hear them after recording and export to wave Is easy from there.
    I can record sounds from my Tyros 5 and can also hear them
    I can even hear midi and vst together playing in same project.
    As you also have a scarlett Interface the usb goes from that to your computer
    I have an I7 computer running win 7.
     
     I record a midi track from my Tyros 5  and that Is ok.It shows up and plays In Sonar pro.
    I now want to turn the sound from my Tyros which Is now a midi track to a wave file.
    Somehow I have to get the Tyros to send line out to line In of the scarlett  down that usb cable into the computer to convert midi to audio track
    I have to get midi to trigger my Tyros to send line out.This is where I am getting stuck.
    The reason for the midi chain is for the phatboy control surface to be in the chain so I can assign soft synth knobs and sliders to control hands on.
    I even have taken it out of the chain and still no midi to audio for me.
    I bet It Is something simple ,but I cannot fathom It out yet.
     
    My Tyros Is set up ok for midi send and receive.
     
    The Tyros send midi data------
    Midi out from Tyros 5 to midi In of Scarlet 6i6.
    Midi out from Scarlett 6i6 to midi In of control surface
    Midi out from control surface to midi In of Tyros 5
    Usb from Scarlett 6i6 to computer.
    I forgot to mention
    I also have a usb out from Tyros 5 going to my computer with tyros drivers Installed.
    I thought that was for direct midi recording to Sonar if you have your Scarlett Interface switched off.
    Also for Sending and receiving Yamaha pack data (Instruments and sound editing)

    MIDI must be played by "something" to be made audible. Internally a VSTi converts MIDI to audio, but if you want audio back from anything external, SONAR can send MIDI out to play it, but must receive audio back for recording (via audio or even headphone outputs on the device).

    Quick edit: you need cables from the audio output on the device to audio inputs on the Scarlett, then set the associated inputs for recording an audio track inside SONAR.

    I do have line out cables from my Tyros 5 to The Scarlett line in.
    So i press start In sonar and the midi is sent to the Tyros 5 which I have recorded from the Tyros.
    It then goes line out to line In Scarlett then down the usb cable and into the computer
    I set up the scarlett panel for Daw tracking .
    I have tried all sorts of combinations in that panel but cannot find a solution
    It should print an audio track but i cannot find a way.
    I set the drivers up in sonar in and out.
    I just cannot get sonar to record midi track to audio no matter what do.
     
    I have no problems In laying a midi Tyros or vst synth track down to playback.That side of It Is 100%,It's just converting midi to audio making me pull my hair out,and I have not got much left!!Especially now!!
    I had found a sonar project I did a year ago and loaded It.
    It had 10 tracks of midi and I had a audio track which i managed to do.
    I played the song back with the wave file as I muted the midi  tracks.
    It did not sound
     
    in Sonar track
    the audio track was on Input---stereo focusrite usb 2.0audio driver line 3
    the output on                           focusrite usb 2.0 audio driver line 3
     
     
    In sonar driver settings
     
    playback timing master    2 focusrite Usb 2. 0 audio driver line 3
    recording timing master    2 focusrite Usb 2. 0 audio driver line 3
     
    Daw tracking in Scarlett panel.
     
    Now I had to change the output on the track to  focusrite usb 2.0 audio driver Mon 1 to hear the wave track.
    If I delete the track and re record I get nothing and this Is my conundrum.

    The MIDI->audio may be where I am confused. It might be simplest to one-off these.
    1. Can you simply record an audio track in SONAR with the Scarlett (source can be anything)?
    2. If you send MIDI out of SONAR to the Tyros 5 and monitor the audio with monitors/headphones (not routing back to the Scarlett), does it make sounds?
    If MIDI in SONAR will trigger VSTis, it seems that your issue may lie with one of the two above. I have never triggered an external synth, but the issue may be as simple as the channel assignment SONAR is sending out to the Tyros 5, the Tyros 5 is not listening to (#2 above).
     
    Quick aside - This does not appear to be your issue, but just in case, this is the best video I have seen for using MixControl.

    Problem solved
     
    I noticed when I played the keyboard the midi light on the Scarlett  went full and when not playing It starts to blink intermittently.
    So with this In mind I pressed play on Sonar and noticed It was still blinking.
    I now know the music was not going back out the Line outs.
    Well,this was puzzling,so I gave Yamaha a ring and explained this to the Tech support guy who was very helpful.
    He said to me that I had the line out leads In the wrong hole!!.
    On the Tyros 5 you have Line outs and Sub line outs 3 and 4 and my leads should have been plugged Into SUB LINE OUTS 3&4 Instead of the LINE OUTS with the same aux property ticked on the Tyros mixer.
    I did not know that these line outs were a different pair and was confusing. That part Is sketchy in the Tyros ref manual.I  then gave that a go and bingo all is good now.
    I did have the Scarlett and Sonar configured right all along,but that little boo boo was frustrating.

     Ps Anyone with a Tyros 5 and a scarlett Interface  get the line out leads In the right holes or headache will follow!!
