Verify that the addictive drums plugin dll is the the path(s) scanned by the plugin manager.

As Scook said, go into Sonar, then utilities, then plug in manager, VST configuration and Options.

Then add the path to where you installed Addictive drums.

Addictive drums works fine under Sonar, I use it myself.

    Sonar Platinum 64 bit > Pro tools 10.3.2 >Intel i7 3770K > 16Gb Ram > Gigabyte Z77-D3H Motherboard> NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 2 GB > ATi RADEON HD5700 > 240GB OCZ Agility 3 SSD> Win 10 home 64 bit> Delta 1010 > MOTU Audio Express > MA-15D's > NI Ultimate 9 > NI Kontrol S61 1.1 > NI MAschine Studio 2.3 / KORG MS-20 Mini - Arturia MicroBrute > KORG SQ1 - KORG Kaoss Pad KP3 > iPad and IO Dock 2 running various bits > Bunch of guitars >

Is there possibly a bit depth mismatch? Is your OS 64 or 32 bit? Is the AD version the same?
I have AD and it works flawlessly. I love it.

AD is 32bit but runs fine on 64bit Sonar either via Bitbridge or JBridge.

Where have you been? AD has been 64bit for quite a while now.

To the OP, in the left pane of the plug-in manager, did you click on the VSTI? It may have a 64bit. It's been a while. The left pane lets you choose which types of plugs to look at.

Until you figure it out, you could always try using the included drum synth that comes with Sonar X1 ( Session Drummer )
Its stable, has some killer sounds via included the Steven Slate stuff and is very quick to create drum grooves via the 'Step Sequencer"  which is available under the "Views" menu, if you dont find any MIDI loops you like in the 'Browser"

Go into Windows Explorer and verify with your own eyes that the dll is in the correct folder - i.e. the one you've got set in Sonar to scan.

    If it isn't, move it.

We use Addictive here at work and even though we installed it into the Cakewalk folder, it still installs the actual .dll into the c:/Program Files/Steinberg/Vstplugins  location if its 64 bit and if its 32 bit  c:/Program Files (x86)/Steinberg/Vstplugins
This is the default install location of the plug so you might have it in there even if you had specified another location...try that path in your Sonar X1 vst path scan location.
...assuming this is a Win 7 install

I recently had cause to fire up my old machine as my main DAW is currently out of service, and I was amazed how much crap had been deposited in the Steinberg Folder.

I don't even have one on my new box.
