sonar x1 virtual midi

i think my only problem with sonar 8 was that i had to switch focus manually to bomes keyboard because i dont have a hardware keyboard. is there a way to set up sonar x1 to switch to the virtual midi when i press record instead of hittin keyboard shortcuts tryin to play music?

    You should likely be able to create a keybinding the same as you would for a hardware controller.  Under Preferences(P) - Cusomization - Keybinding  select the Midi option - Select the note(s) that you want to use the trigger the function and then scroll down the right side to chose the function(s) you want to use. Set it up with either the highest or lowest notes that you normally don't use for playing or that are out of the range of Keyswitches if you are using plugins that employ Keyswitches.
