sonar x2 control bar VS sonar 8.5 control bar

Regarding the Sonar X control bar , I'm tired . With X1 and X2 I can't EVEN fit all the control bar modules into a single screen . With Sonar 8.5 IT was easily possible to arrange ALL THE CONTROL BARS INTO A SINGLE SCREEN . In many aspects Sonar X2 is just a regression of Sonar 8.5. Sonar X looks much better but is made with NO LOGIC.. In Sonar X the control bar is tO BIG and THE MODULES CAN BE COLAPSED ONLY ORIZONTALLY AND NOT VERTICALLY . If i use the maximum screen resolution 1980x1080 the control bar is steel very big and CAN'T FIT THE  MAXIMUL RESOLUTION SCREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!. This is crazy !!. Sonar X is so annoying .

Is there a way to PROFESSIONALY manage the control bar with SONAR X ??.

Most of us select which modules are the most important to display and be done with it.

I suppose its possible that a user may have need to see all modules on the control bar but most don't.

Also if memory serves Sonar 8.5 didn't have a control bar.

^^^  This.   In the X series it's about managing what you actually need to use vs. trying to fit every possible icon on screen as in 8.5.

That said, a customizable Control Bar module would be convenient.

I'll bet there's a way to have both!

Maybe if they made the control bar widgets sizeable? Tho I have poor eyesight these days, I'm sure I could easily handle the controls smaller than they are...

But for now... Very true that we rarely need all the tools visible... I prefer having them visible for those unique occasions as we could with 8.5 and I have a similar dislike for the widget sizing for the track controls as well... If we could at least decide which tools we want to a finer degree (I use Freeze and Archive all the time but almost never need to touch read/write)...

John... It didn't have a control bar by name, no... but the rows of widgets served the same purpose... in far less space. there was of course the large transport control which was a step in the control bar direction...

I have had issue with the button sizes and spacing since X1 and it has improved little in this respect if any. I don't want to harp on this too much as it's not as central an issue as I have with other things in the X generation, but the waste of screen real estate is a current trend which we can see in this forum software as well as all other softwares going touch. Let's face it, our fingers aren't a particularly accurate pointing device, so while it can be fun and helpful at times, it is not (yet?) a replacement for the methods we have.

I believe that a big reason the interface was changed into X1 was to allow for forthcoming touch capability as well as other features the Bakers are hoping/planning/building which they couldn't do with the older constraints...

Too bad that the cost of acquiring these new abilities came with the loss of many other things (color control comes to mind) which I guess they figured were either less important and/or to be be futher developed as time allows...

I think they were rooted in the old programming for so long that it was easy to add things... They knew the territory well, but they are just learning the skylight path...

I'm doing my best to remain calm about all these issues and hoping that I will be pleased with the next release whatever it may be... I only hope that it happens while I am still capable of acquiring and using it. I'm afraid I'm falling through the cracks in society rapidly...

I recently installed 8.5LE (that I've owned for a few years) for the first time and couldn't find the full view mode option X2 has, which means 8.5 wastes screen space, too.

What I don't like about X2 control bar is that there's unnecessary space in some of the modules (e.g. Event Inspector module, Markers module). Also, I don't need the left side of the Transport module.

    Tak T.
