that depends on which USB soundcard you're talking about.  if you're talking about a Soundblaster USB or other "consumer" type soundcards then it might not.

the USB soundcards on my website will reduce your latency to a reasonable level.

    which one are you considering?

Also- did you do anything to solve the latency problem (like changing the buffer settings in Options-dialogue).

Anyway it's worth it to get a proper soundcard.

Almost anything by M-Audio, Presonus, Lexicon, Focusrite, Cakewalk, Roland will do the trick.
Or Sound Blaster's prosumer brand, E-Mu, but not a Sound Blaster. They work okay as "sound cards", but are not specifically designed for recording and playing back multiple tracks simultaneously.

no, that's not a soundcard, it's just a MIDI to USB cable and has nothing to do with latency.

look at my website as I said before.  there are recommendations there for you.  and if you'll give us your budget and your needs (number of inputs, type of inputs whether you need phantom power or not, etc) then we can give you better direct recommendations based on what you need and what you can afford.

yes, that will work.  I would advise the MKII, not the original.  although the original will help with latency for xp systems, it might have problems with vista or win7.  the mkii also is a 24bit system where the original is 16, IIRC.
