soundfonts
Hi, I want to know how to use soundfonts in sonar. I have downloaded a rock drums soundfont (sf2 file) Soundfont 2.0 bank? How to I use these? Can they replace the standard drum sounds in TTS-1 for example? Thanks.

What sound card are you using? Which version of Sonar are you using?

Can they replace the standard drum sounds in TTS-1 for example? No. But you can use the sfz plugin which loads soundfonts. It's included in S5, else go google for the freeware version.

Then you should do as LoopJunkie suggests and download the free soundfont player, sfz. HTH.

Because it looks like you have an illegal version of Sonar. Every legal Sonar owner has a manual, so... please tell us that's not true and we can go on with answering your question.

Does it have anything to do with TTS-1 as I would like to change the standard drum sounds in TTS-1. Thanks. Reread my first post, it does not change the TTS-1, because it's a different plugin. You can use as many soft synth plugins concurrently as your PC can digest. That's what's usually done in music production: Plugin Synth A for Bass Plugin Synth B for strings Plugin Synth C for keys Plugin TTS-1 for organ (ch.1) and bass doubling (ch. 2) .... Plugin sfz with drum soundfont as drum synth btw: instead of a synth plugin, it can also be a sampler plugin, same thing with regards to setting up a MIDI project. On top would come audio tracks like e.g. guitar, violin, bagpipes, ... and vocals.

Sorry man, it was just a joke... When I saw your post, it was very late in the morning and I kind of gave in to my evil side... Recently there was a large post on here about pirated copies and people who ask for help with un-bought products and such and I just couldn't resist... Anyway, hope you found what you were looking for... Mike Jons
