Yes if you have the CV in the multidock. The multidock can be floated to another monitor and the space bar still works.

I had to check this because I use a CS.

This is actaully one of those things that disturbs me about X1.  The "keybindings" don't always work.  Your focus has to be in a specific place more often than not.  This makes many of the keybindings much less useful.  "/" Solo track is a good example.

It used to work fine  all the time -- in 8.5.x.  I wonder why the programmers/designers felt it should not for X1?

Billy thats one reason I use a CS. It does help in avoiding DAW weirdness.

Oh I'm with you on this one, John.  i use a few CS's LOL.

But that doesn't mitigate the problem with keybindings NOT working when you need them to and is something that really should be addressed.

    Billy,

Couldn't agree more.  I miss the ability to select tracks with shift and ctrl.

Really there in not a good reason why these issues can't be worked out.

What seems a little bit strange to me is - why no one at CW who actually uses Sonar (which supposedly is many, at least that's my understanding) don't run into these same issues and question them?   Well, perhaps sometimes they do (it's hard to know without acually being privvy to the conversations).  It just seems that much of these annoyances would not be there if people in the programming and/or design  pool are actually using their own software.

You could be right but I don't think we will ever know for sure. My guess is they are tied up, shall I say, with more pressing issues. Things get lost or put aside for other things that they may be instructed to do.

It also could be due to a lack of stringent beta testing. Or not a wide enough group of testers.

I don't hold these isues against them because I believe they will fix them in time. I think this was a major effort for CW to bring out a new GUI with some major features beyond it. So I am not in anyway upset.

I am however, looking forward with baited breath for X2. It would be cool to have it around Christmas.

Could this be an ACT thing, wherein ACT "focus" parameters preclude the ability to make the space-bar a permanent Start/Stop trigger, regardless of the focus? Case in point - you open Word Pad and start typing lyrics...you press the space bar to type the next word and your song starts playing. I would not want to have to deal with THAT problem...

Doubtful, due to the systems involved. ACT is MIDI driven. That should not impede a computer keyboard's interaction with the program. Though maybe it does have an effect? I don't know.

I should add this; a CS is in direct control of a program it is connected to no matter if the program has focus or not. It should never loose control unless another program is also connected to it as well. Than focus plays a part.

I'm not as convinced that things will get fixed in time.  There are many issues that have never been fixed.  SO I think it's more a matter of how much customer pressure they get TO fix things and what to fix.  If the customers don't complain, well -- we know how that goes.

And if the forum is any judge of things, I'd say there are a TON of things that may never get fixed because there seems to be VERY little pressure coming from the customer base.

That is not to say that CW don't make an effort to fix things; we know they do.  But "what" and "when" is always up for grabs, so to speak.

Personally I'm not waiting with baited breath for X2 or any other company's next update.  So many things can (and often do) go wrong with updates.   I personally would like to see a break from upgrading/updating anything LOL.  Peace and calm would do well for a bit ;)

We have so many great tools as it is.  Just use them and make a lot of great music.  That's what I suggest.  And that can be done without X2, X3 or x99 I think ;)

Yes we do need to work on pushing for the needed fixes and also features that are long over due.

Hopefully we can do this in a civilized manner.

Thanks John. Maybe it's time I reconnect my MCU and 2 extenders. THey have been disconnected for almost 2 years now (it's a petty that my TASCAM DM-4800 doesn't have the displays like the MCU).

I am enjoying being back on the forum. I notice that a lot of the guys are gone, but there new ones that are as helpful ;-)
This are great here in sunny Mozambique. Moved to my studio in December and all going well. My band Ghorwane is also a;live and kicking and producing a lot of great guys from here. New website almost done with all the stuff I am working on.
    And you John?
