spiking noise problem from Behringer ADA8000 into Focusrite pro24

Hi all,
I have a win7 pc, and have a new Focusrite pro 24, of which the normal analogue channels work fine, however, when I connected a Behringer ADA8000 toslink output to the toslink input on the Sapphire, the channels are coming through, BUT, the signal is fuzzy, and, there are random spiking noises on all channels. I have Sonar set to 44.1khz, and the ADA 8000 set to be the master at 44.1khz. Any ideas??
Thanks

I don't know much about the ADA8000, but why don't you set the Focusrite as the master?  I am familiar with Behringer equipment, however, and I am not a big fan of their pre-amps.  The fuzziness might be a preamp issue.  Also, the random spiking sounds like a buffer issue.  I assume you are using ASIO drivers.  You might want to go in and increase your buffer size.

Not sure how to set Focusrite as the master, there is an adat in on the Focusrite, but not out.
Yes, ASIO drivers. Buffer size shouldn't be a problem, but I will try it.
I had similar problems when I installed the current soundcard, (ESI - ESP1010e), but, I can't remember what I did to fix it.

thanks, will let you know, when I get chance to try it.

I tried that combo and it would not sync thru adat.  I talked to Behringer tech suppt and to Focusrite tech suppt, with no answers.  I thought it was a bad adat port, but if u get the same thing, then  I think you need to sync both ADA8000 in and out to the sound interface, and of course the Focusrite only has an IN (i think).  So if you want the 8 pre's like I do, then you'll have to get an Foc. Octo pre, or a pro 40 interface with both I/O adats (guessing that will work but not sure).  Now I'm looking to get either a presonus firepod or tascam 1800 for the 8 inputs.
