split mono
I found a free softsynth I like but for some reason it only outputs left. What's the easiest way to split it so it sounds stereo?

softsynths shouldn't do that unless you have it routed as a stereo output from a mono source panned one way or the other.

Beagle softsynths shouldn't do that unless you have it routed as a stereo output from a mono source panned one way or the other. This one does, even though it says "with stereo sound" on the gui. It's a synthedit gizmo made to emulate gameboy sounds. Found here: http://www.pontonius.se/

So, this results in a stereo track with audio data on only the left side? Try this. Right click the clip and select Convert to Mono. Then right click it again and select Convert to Stereo. This should result in the same audio data on both left and right channels. Then you can use Channel Tools and/or other processing to fiddle with the stereo field.

I was actually hoping to play it in stereo in realtime. No way to do that?

You can't truly convert mono to stereo (as the L-R difference information is missing), but you could fake a stereo effect by using a suitable VST. Hopefully that will work in real time.

You can try contacting them through a link on the download site. The 1.0 version they have is stereo but doesn't come with any presets and has a very different GUI.

You can drop a channel tools over the output and use that to bring the signal in to the middle of the channel. Then you can use the pan on the channel to balance it where you like. It won't make it stereo, but nothing will! Child
