split tool and loop selection not working properly, help !!

split tool doesn't want to split where i want it to. i dont have snap on, btw. loop selection won't allow me to select the loop points, that is when i select a section of audio i want to loop, i then press the loop button and it selects a larger region than i highlighted. i then try to move one flag to the region i want but the other flag moves away in the opposite direction. please help me figure out what i'm doing wrong..

    I don't wanna talk badly about Sonar, but since a while ,weird things happens from time to time with the editing tools and clips/events, like weird fades in chops of sliced audio or groove clip, the select tool and the slice tool its a real nightmare on boundaries, but well I have to say that I never seen before your exact problem...

    yeah, i cried wolf too soon i suppose. it now works after a reboot. but still, it's not even a big, cpu hungry project for things to go haywire.. i thought maybe i accidentally hit a function that may disable those functions or something bizarre like that. weird.
