staff view phantom notes
I have an odd problem. I am seeing notes in staff view that do not seem to exist anywhere else. My chords look like atonal clusters, when in fact in PR view and when I listen to playback are simple triads. If I remove the notes in PR view, then look a staff view, the 'good' notes are missing, but the unwanted notes remain. When played, I hear silence, so the only issue is what I see in staff view. I did transpose the project, and I initially thought the project was "remembering" the old key...But the extra notes are not related to the original key. Any thought? Thanks!

Do you have a muted take of the clip before transposing in the same track? It won't play back, and it won't show in PRV if you have Hide Muted Clips enabled, but the Staff View can't do that. It will show all notes in all lanes of the track. If that's the case, you'll want to move the muted clip(s) to another track.

RJB, my guess (hopefully helpful) . . . when you recorded the midi, you may have recorded multiple midi channels ? . . . but you have the playback set to monitor only 1 midi channel (so you don't hear the other recorded channels) . . . other possibility . . . you have the staff view display resolution set lower than the actual note durations. eg . . . 1/16 th notes recorded, but display resolution set to 1/4 notes.

You mentioning the display resolution reminded me that by mistake I did change that...but I didn't see any immediate difference in the display and so just left the new value. I just changed it from 1/4 to 1/6 and the problem went away. Thanks! I wonder why that is...No matter what the resolution, those other notes don't exist, so why would they appear in staff view? I'm going to experiment with that a bit.

I had something similar happen; but it added 16th notes when I was typing in lyrics - using the tab key would sometimes add a note rather than staying in the lyrics section of the staff view. (Took me a while to realize that was happening.) I couldn't find a consistent pattern to when it occurred though. My notes actually played though; and I was able to delete the notes manually.
