stand alone computer running my soft synths...

Hello all,
Guess I will break down and ask... I have read of folks running their soft synths on a dedicated computer . OK... how can I do that?  I would like to use my laptop as the second and my studio computer as the main DAW. Thanks in advance for your expertise.

Couple of ways....as with traditional hardware synths you can run MIDI out from DAW to MIDI in of the synth machine, and audio outs from the synth machine to audio ins of the DAW machine.  Or, with network tools that can route both audio and MIDI over the network cable between the two machines.

Hey there Tech head, It is the second 'network tools ' option that I am interested in. This should allow my main computer to use the a/d converter at the higher rate. using MIDI would leave me at the mercy of the laptop sound card. Any names for these network tools? Thanks!

MIDIoverLAN is one by MusicLabs, but it is MIDI only.  The other product is FX Teleport ( http://www.fx-max.com/fxt/ ) which makes a synth plugin on a remote network computer appear as if it is local to your main DAW--audio and MIDI and other data is streamed between the two machines on the network.
