start and stop timer

Not sure this is the right place, I know there are lots of smart folks here.
I record programs off the the internet and the tv from headphone jacks to mic in on my laptop then burn a cd. Is there some way to set the start time, i.e. 3:00 ET and stop the recording at say 4:00 ET. I just want the audio. Sometimes I cant be home to do the manual start and stop so I would like something automatic.
Any help is appreciated,
Rohnn
