that's because you recorded them in a stereo input but recorded them from a mono source.  let me guess - they're on the LEFT only, aren't they?  ;-)

microphones are mono sources, don't select a STEREO input for a mono source.  if you do, then you will not record anything on the other channel - as you have observed.

you can fix what you have by selecting the track and separating the track into 2 separate mono tracks, then delete the empty one.  but first I need to know which version of MC you're using.

you can fix future problems by selecting ONLY the mono source not the stereo.  but I'll need to know more about your soundcard and your mic and how you have it connected to your soundcard.

common mistake.... I generally record everything in mono because it uses 1/2 the hard drive space as a stereo track.

That way, I figure I can get 12000 songs on the hard drive instead of 6000.... so I better get busy writing...

Stereo vocal tracks are realy only needed if you plan to do some tricky stuff with the track, and even so it is just as easy to clone the track, and do it that way.

That's not to say that it is uncommon to use two mic's on a source. Often times, a second mic is used to add ambience to the recording.
