stopping on the audio track

an earlier version of MC use to stop when i pressed the space bar so that i could make a marker or do whatever.  this version i have now, number 3, jumps back to where the cursor/scrub was when we started making miss my place.  could someone tell me if i can change some setting to stop this or what do you do when you want to mark a spot.
it's driving me crazy!!!  (we, the "sirenas del mar" are not know for our patience.  some consider us real b________, although we're very polite and don't curse in front of others.)

    Go to Options>Global and uncheck the 'On Stop Rewind To Now Marker' box.

    I'm old school... I know that... but don't use it. I just click my mouse on the time time to set the new NOW point.

    Yeah I agree ... "On stop rewind to now marker" should not be the default setting.
