strange behaviour in X1b HELP PLEASE. SOLVED
I don't know what happened..I was working on a project with both midi and audio data, and some strange thing happened to my project. 1. the time ruler has disappeared each measure only displays the Big Time view M:B:T ex. 3:03:505 2. the project plays-back correctly but it goes by fast and erratic in the clips pane, with 2 Now Time cursors going berzerk. 3. the data in the midi clips have flat-lined. and the waveforms in the audio clips are now these sine-wavy oscilloscope looking things. I have never encountered this behaviour, if anyone has some insight, it would be greatly appreciated.. aleef

You have just crossed over into -- The Twilight Zone! ---sorry, Aleef, I have no idea what the deal is there. It just sounds like a TZ scenario of some sort. Bizarro video card behavior?-- RB

aleef I don't know what happened..I was working on a project with both midi and audio data, and some strange thing happened to my project. 1. the time ruler has disappeared each measure only displays the Big Time view M:B:T ex. 3:03:505 I get the same thing. I just posted a video of it and sent it to Cakewalk in a bug report. Please do the same if you can. The more people who bring it to their attention the better. Jing is a free video capture program you can install if you don't have anything currently. It also provides access to a free file storage site. 2. the project plays-back correctly but it goes by fast and erratic in the clips pane, with 2 Now Time cursors going berzerk. Try hitting the 'Pause/Break' button on your QWERTY keyboard. It puts Sonar in to CPU Conservation Mode (iirc) and causes your cursor to act funky like that. I've also had this happen without hitting the Pause/Break key. The only way I resolved it was by rebooting my PC. Even shutting down X1 and re-opening it didn't help. 3. the data in the midi clips have flat-lined. and the waveforms in the audio clips are now these sine-wavy oscilloscope looking things. Never seen this, but it doesn't surprise me. Sounds like a reboot will get you going again. Call me paranoid, but I've just had this tool bar disappearing thing start happening to me and I've been seeing a few others mention it recently too, but it's been a while since Build 255 has been released. Does anyone think it could be a virus or malware of some kind causing this? It seems to have just started out of the blue ... ?? Bub

Hey Bub, I know my machine is clean as I do daily maintenance and alternate my firewalls and virus detection software. This puppy doesn't require malware to act up, it's bred for it. I'm really starting to think the issues have a lot to do with Windoze 7 and the huge variety of CPU & motherboard configurations. Hopefully a pattern will develop as the programmers sift through the data from bug reports. I've been into QA and statistical analysis since 1990 and I know that the raw data can yield great insight if you know how to look at it. For instance, there was a straw poll conducted by one of the forum members a couple few months back. I thought that my computer would be ahead of the pack in performance but not working well because it isn't dedicated. As it turns out, the poll indicated my machine was average and most people that answered didn't have dedicated machines. I'm sure the clever folks at Cakewalk are sifting and filtering in an attempt to get a clear direction for their efforts.

Hey thanx Bub..im going to have to really sit down and figure this out. this issue makes it impossible to do edits. i will be filing a bug report tomorrow, cause this could be a case of user error. I have been meaning to learn how to upload video and screenshots, trying to explain these issues with just text is old hat..
