Whenever that happens with me, I just bring up a blank patch, think of a song, and try to match the sound. A few minutes later, I'll be jamming out with a new patch.

When I get stuck in a creative rut I generally change gears and throw on the technical hat for a while.

I don't know your level of expertise with the unit, but here are some suggestions that will actually serve you pretty well once you get out of the rut...

    - Learn how to backup and restore your patches to the computer.

    - Get Cakewalk set up to send the GT6 patch change commands so you can embed those in a midi track in your project.

    - Figure out how to save the patch data in your project so the sound you used is saved with it.

    - Check out the various GT6 boards and see what crazy stuff people have gotten them to do. Bound to get an idea or three there. I have seen some very creative use of the ctl and expression pedals from folks on those boards...

When I was in that spot once, I wrote a song as quickly as possible...I think I gave myself 30 minutes, and whatever I had at that point, it was done.  I did this for solo piano and it's one of the songs I'm most proud of.
