stupid qeustion over here

ok, so i was recording vocals on a track i had previously used before.  I deleted the old material but didn't flatten the track EQ, my question is, does the signal pass through the EQ before it's recorded or does it bypass it.  I'm talking about the EQ on the Cakewalk console itself, not in the fx window.\

I know it's probably a stupid question and probably in the manual, but i could spend hours looking for it there or have one of you guys answer it in minutes and then i can move on knowing what i need to do next quicker, thanks.

All plugins (software effects) in sonar are non destructive. That means they do not effect the recorded audio signal. They only effect the audio signal after it has been recorded.
You can hear the effect of the plugin by enabling input echo for that track, but it doesnt get printed

No it doesn't. No need to worry. When you record in Sonar it is always dry meaning no processing is applied.

Re, your edit.  Wrong guess there!  This could depend on what mixing  mixing console you mean.  Are you talking about an external "real" mixer, or the mixer app for your soundcard?  A "real" mixer will certainly affect the recorded signal and, in most cases, so will a mixer app. for your soundcard.  You will have to look this up in your soundcard manual.
