sub woofer

Hi,

I did a search but could not find what I wanted. I have a NAD 701 Receiver and a Mirage frx-s8 subwoofer.

The sub has inputs that will accept R/L speaker wire and one single RCA input. My Receiver has extra "b" speaker outputs that could run the sub. I have split the pre-amp out and main in and replaced the steel connectors with a better product. From those wires they run to the sub as L/R. But with only one in on the sub I can't hook both up. Using a Y connector on the sub to feed both lines in results in all speakers running in mono only. If remove the Y and run only the left or right into the sub everything is 100%.

What I want to know is this, am I missing out on bass by only running the left or right channel in to the sub? I was always under the impression that bass at a subwoofer level was mono, using left or right only makes no difference.

My favorite music sounds the same and the bass is the same. What do you think?

Well you need to feed the sub a summed L-R channel

imagine a sound or song that pans some intrument or effects L to R....or inverse...

now you gonna loose the SUB frq response on the pan where the signal get to the side
    wher is no SUB...

you need to split the pre signal before it hits the AMP and send one pair to the AMP then send the other pair (L-R ...of course ) to a SMALL MIXER.....to sum both signals...then
to the SUB.... ( maybe and extra amp need for sub)

you can find those liitle gadgets mini mixers for less than 99 USD....
