suggestions on how to create cinematic hit sound

I've been trying to find a good example of the type of sound I'm looking to recreate but haven't been able to to get an exact example.  It's a sound that's been in quite a few action movies over the last few years where it's like a low cinematic hit with a super low bass tone that falls in pitch.  Here's an example of the hit - pond5.com/sound-effect/38246742/cinematic-trailer-stab-impact-0001.html (sorry for the mangled url - the system won't let me post the full url)  I can't find an example of the bass tone, but I'm hoping that you know what I'm talking about.

Anyway, my audio recording experience is mainly with recording live performances and not playing with vst synths, so I'm not quite sure how to create that sound.  I am happy to play around and try things, but I was hoping someone might have an idea to point me in the right direction.  Thanks!

I don't know if you have Kontakt or not but there is a library called Percussion Hits that is probably what you are looking for. I am very impressed with the cinematic type sounds in it. There are also some librarys that are free at 99 Sounds. These are very good for those type beds.
I just finished converting those librarys in to instruments to be used with the free TX16Xw sampler. You may want to check it out as well. Anybody that is familiar with the old VSampler will already be very at home on that one.

AD2 kick, experiment with the volume envelope , apply Re-matrix or another verb.

I agree, but if I have to guess, it's a 909 Kick, I think, with a long decay reverb.

Thank you everyone for the input.  Just an FYI, I don't have any plugins... so I'm just the default instruments that come with Sonar.

If you have Sonar Platinum, you have AD2, Session Drummer (909 kit), Breverb, Re-matrix Solo, TrueVerb & Sonitus Reverb.

Try all of them and see what you can get.

    Hope this helps.
