tablets....

i was just checking out the asus transformer, a great little tablet with an optional keyboard/aux battery.  it runs android 3.0
i wonder how far off we are from being able to use a tablet like that for a daw like sonar.  is it conceivable that sonar could run on android OS or is it more realistic to assume that the tablet would have to run windows?
if you think about it, that little tablet has better specs than the computers we all had 6 years ago.  it even has two usb ports.

just wondering....

There are some tablets out there that do run Windows. Those would probably work.

When you consider you would have to recode SONAR (or any App) for Android, it makes more sense for the tablet to run windows.  As pointed out, they are faster than desktops a few years ago.

The real fun would be using the power of a windows computer with the touch screen control of a tab.  The Ipad already does such, tho the wireless connection remains funky on a PC from what I've heard.  If Cake made an app to control sonar from an android tab, and make it as solid for SONAR as the VS 700 (for example), they would kick the competition.  That would be far easier than re-writing a DAW.  Although P5 as an android app might work as a performance unit.  That would be cool.

sonar doesnt yet have support for touch screens yet.  that would be an important first step.
    can we bake that up?
i LOVE the idea of an  adroid app for controlling sonar.....

Wouldn't it make more sense to use an evil i-pad and GBand... then, of course, import the tracks as .wav files into Sonar on your "real" computer. I want a tablet too but there are too many choices. I cannot even decide on a new cellphone.

iPad Garageband is really restricted in what it will export. It's pretty hard work getting separate tracks out of it. It's really designed to only work with Mac GB and Logic, which greatly limits its usefulness.

Shame, really, as it's an excellent piece of work in other ways. But I've found that after the initial wow factor, I've not found a practical use for it.

FL has always been pretty good software, I bet it is a lot better now. My daughter did some pretty awesome DnB mostly with FL about 10 years ago. All things considered the i-pad looks really interesting. For the price I would have to buy the Tascam 4-track Porta Studio app... it just looks great.

I am not an Apple fanboy by any stretch but I LOVE my iPad....it transforms into whatever I want it to: note-taker, internet, school, EFB (electronic flight bag).  It's not a computer in the traditional sense but It keeps getting more useful.

I just want a tablet and it looks like android is the way to go, so I can virtually control Sonar.  We have got to the point even hardware controllers are obsolete. I am so looking forward to this.  I have everything wirless now, keyboard, mouse.  I just want a wirless controller.

im a big android fan  have had two different android phones and also originally wanted android tab but the support is not there for the music apps. apple has a stronghold in this area.  most of the best music apps have no support on android
