take lane question
I have 4 takes of a midi drum track in 4 take lanes. Can I view them individually in the piano roll view? Thanks, Dan

Mute the clips you don't want to see, and enabled Hide Muted Clips in the PRV's View menu. Note that muting the lanes doesn't get it; you have to mute the clips directly (Hotkey K for "Kuiet" ).

Thanks for the quick response! I tried what you said and I still see all 4 tracks. I'm using X3 Producer. Any other ideas? Thanks!

Just realized you're talking about drum tracks, and probably working in the Drum Pane of the PRV. I don't think it works there. Sorry for the misdirection. I'll have to think if there's an easy way around that without leaving the drum pane, but I think you'd have to move the muted parts to another track. CORRECTION: I just checked, and it is working in the Drum Pane, but the Drum Pane might not refresh immediately on muting the clips. Try toggling the Drum Pane closed and back open and/or toggling Hide Mute Clips off/on.

Thanks again, tried your suggestion but still not working. By toggling the drum pane do you mean checking "show or hide drum pane" in the PRV?

Yes, that's what I meant. Initially when I muted a clip the drum notes still showed white in the Drum Pane. After changing views to double-check that I had muted the correct clip, I found that the white notes had disappeared. I just wasn't sure whether minimizing the docked PRV triggered the refresh or whether it was toggling one of the other settings. I'll go through the drill again and try to nail it down, but some combination of those operations should do the trick. Persistance/refresh of display settings in the PRV has always been a little bit unpredictable, unfortunately.

I'll keep trying... or just move it to its own track. If you do discover something let me know. Thanks!

I confirmed that enabling Hide Muted Clips did not immediately refresh the Drum Grid for clips that were already muted. But I found that doing just about anything to change the focus away from the PRV and back did the trick, including toggling the dock closed/open with the "D" accelerator. This is in Platinum. What version are you on?

So I just added a midi track to copy one of the takes and as soon as I did that, I was able to see the take I wanted in the PRV. Its working now so thanks for the help. Dan

Cool. I'm guessing the focus change to the Track View triggered the refresh.
