We can't do any thing about the website but perhaps we can help you sort out your problem with Sonar. It's ip to you but of course we'd need some information.

There is a forum to report specific Cakewalk forum/website problems or ideas.

Did do you make back up copies of you project?
After what changes it stopped opening?
Most often it happens because of some plug-ins.
If it opens in safe-mode, than it is more likely some plug-ins.
Try move some of them (dll files) and open project again, it will say that it can't find plug-ins,
but it will work if the problem is with this plug-ins.
    Also, read help troubleshooting chapter.

BTW welcome to the forum. I hadn't realised before that it was your first post.

Information that can help us sort out your problems.

Hardware. CPU type, RAM amount, Audio Device model etc
Software: OS, 64 or 32 bit, Sonar version, driver model for your audio device, eg ASIO, MME, WDM/KS.

    Problem.
The steps you take to recreate the problem.

Once a few people get involved in this thread you might get re asked the same question. My advice is just be patient. This is a peer to peer forum so we're all users, some very experienced and some new members who just want to help. Remember we help a lot of people and even people who are very experienced computer users and even computer programmers have been helped by members of this forum. Many members not have have musical backgrounds but computer background as well. All the best.

Artist vs Professional? Did you use something in this project, that is included in Pro but not in Artist?
Also you should use forum search and find similar topics and read them, it would be very useful.

    Re: technical problem....buggy website... 2015/07/23 06:06:10 (permalink)
Does Sonar crash when you load ANY project, or just one particular project?

(make a backup of the project prior to doing the following)

What happens if you open the project in Sonar's 'Safe Mode'?  (To do this, hold down the Shift key when you tell Sonar to load the project you want to test, and Sonar will use its Safe Mode to give you the chance to either load or skip each plugin that is part of the project.  This can be a great way to isolate issues, as well as possibly a last chance at getting the project open when there are issues caused by plugin problems).

Does the failing project have any 32-bit plugins loaded in a 64-bit Sonar?

Does the Sample Rate of the project match the Sample Rate the audio interface is using?

What kind of audio interface are you using, if any?  (Focusrite, AudioBox, M-Audio, EMU, ASIO4ALL, etc.)

Is it possible you have a USB audio interface that might have gotten plugged into a USB 3.0 port?  (some interfaces freak out unless you use USB 2.0 ports for them).

What Web browser are you using?  (Internet Explorer?, Firefox?, etc.)

What version of Windows are you running?  Is it up to current maintenance levels?

Does Sonar fail if you temporarily disable your antivirus software prior to launching Sonar? (do not access the internet if you do this, and make sure to enable the antivirus software right after testing this).

Sonar has been really stable, as far as crashes go, so whatever is happening is most likely something specific to your system - some plugin failing or an issue with ASIO4ALL - if you use that, or maybe Windows maintenance is not current and this is causing problems, etc.)

Are there any Windows errors logged in the Event Viewer?  Any error message shown when things crash?

Thanks - we will try to help you get this figured out.

one more question: i am trying to program my akai apc 40 to use it for keybpoard shortcuts.
in the keyboard shortcuts setup menu i enable midi and bind the midi message to some commands.
but the shortcut is actullay never triggered. strange. i can see an incoming midi event.
    but nothing happens.

That was thought for  "real" instruments, like Digital Piano. So the same "notes" can be used for playing as well as for commands. But than Sonar has to distinguish these 2 cases, so you should define some "Shift" button in "MIDI 'Shift' Options" (the same page in Preferences) and use combinations of Shift + Pad.

In case you want use APC as a Control Surface, you should configure it as such (see chapter 40 in the Sonar Reference Guide).

Do you guys mind providing a bit more info? Plenty of people have been filling out the form successfully so it must be a bit more specific. Version of your browser? Any particular messages/errors? Any addons (script blockers, etc.)?

Yeah, think I found the issue. Validation on the profile portion.

I'll get a fix up soon. We have plans to address our contact pages soon anyway, but this should obviously get resolved in the meantime.

Just a hint for anyone that has a problem with any website. Always try to clear your browser cache as a first step. On windows you can reload the page with ctl-f5.

Sometimes that may fix it for you :-)
