This is a gem of a song.  It sounds ready for prime time.  Your singer is top notch, as is everything else about this song.  The song itself could cross several genres and be a hit.  Great job.

    All the best,

Not a lot can be added to that which has already been said.

(Very minor, which could just be my furry ears, observation kick seems a little lost in the bass)

Thank-you everyone for the kind words. The drums were poorly recorded unfortunately. Tons of phase issues and the kick mic placement resulted in a largely useless thud. I was under time constraints and the kick is a perfect example that fixing it in the mix...is more hassle than its worth. I'm going to try to shape the crap out of it with eq to see if I can give it more presence without muddying up the bottom end. I also look forward to listening to all the commenter work...and providing feedback in kind when I can get a spot of time on my plate. Cheers and good health Thal

Absolutely beautiful listen.  Love this strong acoustic guitar rhythm style - and goes without saying, the vocals are awesome.  This is very much commercially ready IMHO.  I have only one minor nit and I've heard it on a lot of other female vocals of like top40 stuff - too much harmony.   The verses IMO should be just solo, cause there is plenty of chorus where those BGV and harmony shines.  The first verse was solo and I wanted to hear that again.  Later tho, it came in with harmony, and it's every word, every phrase.  Just a bit of a thing with me, and she shines so great that I'd have solo'd her more, up until the chorus parts.   Awesome song!!  I truly enjoyed it.   Well done all the way around - and I didn't notice anything bad in the drums either.       -John

Thank you John.  I suppose the harmonies are a symptom of trying to fill with sound. But i think u are right.  The finest meals are simple well cooked ingredients.

Agree with the comments re the kick. I'd also back the vocals off slightly - just a little too dominant for me - sounds like it was mixed by the singer if you know what I mean. Really nice tune though - crits are just nit-picking really.

    Fantastic in everyway.

The sing is excellent and has a hint of an Irish lilt to it which I can relate to, sounds similar to a girl I work with a lot http://soundcloud.com/cian-mcgovern/amanda-kehoe-caledonia-solo

I really enjoyed the subtle colours and sounds that came in and out of the music bed.

Since it was brought up the kick could do with more "click" boost if anything to salvage it but it didnt bother me.

Super work, I certainly await more from you.

    Regards,

    Cian

The vocals are too prominent at the choruses, yet I struggle to make out her voice during the verses.

That synth patch is a pretty tired one (I used it for years!) but it works here. I might make it a hair more creamy and less sharp.

Listening on the cans there is some definite clicking going on. Might  be vocal track editing that is not cropped too well?

Guitars sound great, and the singer is terrific.

Great feedback James.  I hear the clicking u speak of and yes its a 90 percent cropping job.  With regards to the synths: i wish i had more experience tweaking them. Im in preset mode in that regard.  I believe the vocal definition to be in large part in my use of reverbs.  I have a room, plate and wash reverb on the vocals and think that could be refined some to sit better in the overall mix.

Again thanks for the honest critique. Very helpful in pushing this to a more enjoyable mix.
