One of the bakers posted in the VStudio forum that the estimated street price for the console will be around $2500 (US)

I've been quoted $3600 for VS700 system complete. Or $1825 for the VS700R alone. However $2250 for the VS700C if bought later. A very tempting price compared to $4100

I saw those same prices at a retailers website, GC. They were not there the next time I looked, it was back up to $4100. You tell me. Did you get the whole package for $ 3600? I am still thinking about it. I must admit that the prospect of getting the included software version of the Roland Fantom synth is a big attraction for me. Then again I'm in no hurry to jump on this. The price will surely drop soon enough and you can buy a great deal of other equipment for $3600.

well thats the issue, I mean if you can re-coop the value or have it as a business expense etc.. different matter. It's aimed at a certain market. I use a number of things software wise, so it's not a broad enough solution to cover that.

the prospect of getting the included software version of the Roland Fantom synth is a big attraction for me. Is it actually a VSTi version of the synth? I was under the impression that it was a VST controller for the hardware synth, as the 700R doesnt have any knobs, display etc.

The Fantom is controlled completely by the software in Sonar and a keyboard if you have one. It works like any VST instrument so you don't have a need for hardware knobs or display on the VS-700r. No need to. It's a great synth. If you're a first time buyer, I don't know of any DAW you can buy at this price with what all is included. If you can get it for $3600 that's a steal. If you already have Sonar Pro 8, you get another $200 off that. Just Do it. I have the whole system. Having a well built audio computer is a plus. Guy
