Tools Menu Update

Edit: OK-It's me, I guess. I redid it again and now the message is:
SONAR Platinum
---------------------------
Tool not found: 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Sound Forge Pro 11.0\Forge110'
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

This is the first time I cannot get Sound Forge to launch from the Sonar tools menu. Re did it just to make sure but it says "cannot process"? I know the registry entry is correct, well for all the other sonars anyway.

Here's what I did, same as always. Tried with the blang reg entry and also starting from scratch-neither way works-bummer-I used this very often in Sonar. I don't need the instructions anymore but have them saved

How can I add other audio editing programs to
the Tools menu?

The instructions below detail how to insert an
application into the Cakewalk Tools menu.  Cool Edit is used as the
example.  For other applications, simply replace Cool Edit with that Apps'
name.
Click here for to downlod the Blank Tools Menu Entry.reg file.

1) Copy the Blank Tools Menu Entry.reg to your Windows Desktop.

2) Choose Start | Run.

3) In the Open window, type REGEDIT, and click OK.

4) Click the Plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

5)  Click the Plus sign next to Software.

6)  Click the Plus sign next to Cakewalk Music Software.

7)  Click the Plus sign next to Tools Menu.

8) Click once on the folder labeled Tools Menu so it is highlighted.

9) Choose Registry | Import Registry File.

10) Locate the Blank Tools Menu Entry.reg file on your Desktop and double click
it.

11) You'll now see a dialog box open that says Blank Tools Menu Entry has been
successfully entered in the Registry. Click OK.

12) Beneath the Tools Menu folder, you'll see Blank Tools Menu. Click this once
to highlight it.

13) On the right hand side of the screen, double click on the item that says
ExePath.

14) In the Value Data field, type the path to Sound forge.exe file. You can
find this by right clicking on the sound forge shortcut and choosing Properties.

15) On the right hand side of the screen, double click on the item that says
MenuText.

16) In the Value Data field, type EXE name.

17) On the right hand side of the screen, double click on the item that says
Status Bar Text.

Thanks

The official knowledge base article on modifying the Tools menu https://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013099/Adding-third-party-audio-editing-software-to-SONARs-Tools-menu

Here is a registry export of my SoundForge Pro 10 tools entry using the default SoundForge path on Win7 for 64bit SONAR.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\Tools Menu\Sound Forge]
"ExePath"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Sony\\Sound Forge Pro 10.0\\Forge100.exe"
"MenuText"="&Sound Forge"
"StatusBarText"="Run Sound Forge"
"Type"="WaveEditor"

hmmm - I have the same problem with Adobe audition.

It says "cannot create process". This has always worked before...

OK - I found an old X1 thread.
Audition is set to "run as Administrator", so I set SONAR to "run as Administrator" and it works fine!

And now you may no longer be able to drag and drop files from Windows Exporer :

Cannot Drag and Drop Files From Win Explorer into Platinum

but maybe you still can

Can't drag and drop audio files anymore

sheesh - what a nuisance. I've never dragged files form explorer into (or out of) SONAR - so never saw this.
In fact there's probably no good reason that Audition runs as administrator (which needs SONAR to run as administrator for the "tools" option to work, but which may or may not break dragging files in to SONAR etc etc...)

Aren't computers fun?

Right-click on the SONAR exe or icon then click on properties. The option is in the compatibility tab.

Hey thanks fellas! Tried it and it didn't work for me, (Vista, Win7, 8 and now the crap 10! Why does Microsoft insist on re-inventing the wheel).

Anyway, it may have something to do with the fact I'm running it in 64 bit environment. Oh well.....

Well, both the editor (for me it's Audition) and SONAR have to be the same - either "run as administrator" or not.

Thanks. They are both configured to run as an administrator but I still get "cannot create process".

Maybe if you try them both to -not- run as administrator?
This was certainly the cause of the problem that I was talking about.

Well I figured it out. I copied and pasted the target value in the registry, but I forgot to remove the quotation marks...LOL!! It works now. Just a simple stupid mistake. It's always the little things in life that create havoc.
