WaveRT and ASIO4All with Echo Cards - December 05, 07 11:14 AM ( #1 )
I've been watching the Echo Audio waveRT development with interest. When they get it happening it should be MOST EXCELLENT!

Has anyone tried Asio4All? http://www.asio4all.com/

I'm getting a new laptop with Vista and I thought I might use the Echo Indigo waveRT drivers with Asio4All and see what happens. Sounds like everything is supported (more or less!)

Anyone have any experience with this?

I would like to see waveRT implemented with most sound cards but it is not going to be a reality for most. I have asked this question to a developer and they have sworn me to secrecy as to what they are doing with waveRT. It is not looking good for a few who use their products.

Hopefully my drivers will be available for me soon as they have been held of for along time. So I am hoping that my ASIO supported sound card will be equally as good.

The WaveRT concept, at least, sounds incredible. Let's hope CW and Echo get it together!

Well I hear that it works well so you maybe fortunate. I would have to change my sound card for this to work as they are not going to support this format.

Seems like Lynx is in no hurry with WaveRT. From their support forum..."This requires WaveRT drivers and our development schedule is full at the moment". Grrrr!

Maybe I'll drive down to OC and picket them!

some are battling with the issue of compatability! which is basically backwards compatability up against certified drivers. I think WaveRT would have to be certified. Whilst programmers ponder on which route to take we are left waiting.

well some of us will be others will be pining for new soundcards if waveRT does actually take off. One thing I am looking forward to is if I am getting good latency hits on Vista now which is deemed as not up to scratch with XP. What will happen when it is. Its looking good!

Dappa,
That all sounds good! FYI....I'm also getting good Vista latency. The Lynx2 card is great! I get my uber Fujitsu laptop in a few days. I'll post with my waveRT/asio4all results with the Indigo and S7.

I have not tried asio4all with my EMU sound Card. i am just using the asio drivers for EMU mayabe I should give that ago as the ASIO drivers for EMU are not supposed to be so good.

interesting if it works any better with asio4all, as you know wdm performance is better than asio in vista, and i think asio4all uses the mme/wdm drivers to emulate asio...just to go back to the OP, there are known issues with echo's waveRT drivers and sonar, something to do with how CW writes the code for waverT use, and echo are working on the next driver update to fix this. however vista users have reported much better latency and performance using echo's own asio drivers released with this driver update. (see previous threads on this)

I think this is the problem most developers are experiencing are ASIO drivers good enough is it tried and tested, does it make sense. Is WaveRT tried and tested does that make sense. what is more workable?

Certainly. But if it makes a big improvement in performance....
