Wav Import Problem
Hello, I've tried to import a wav into a track from a live recording. The status bar at the bottom indicates that the file is being imported but after the process there in nothing in the track. I have the track highlighted. The same wav file opened in Sound Forge without any problem. Any suggestions? Thanks

Are you sure that it's not being imported somewhere far along the timeline towards the end of the project? Try this... in SONAR, choose Options > Global > Audio Data. Then remove the checkmark next to this option: Always Import Broadcast Waves At Their Timestamp. That might help... Scott -- Scott R. Yeah, if after you import you see nothing but dots in the track that means it further down the line. Mine always import to the 55 minute mark. (well imported from other apps that is. It works fine importing something from Sonar.) Mike

To solve this you may want to disable or enable import at original time stamp in the global options. Cj

I've noticed that if I right click, create a new track and then import a wave file immediately afterward , it works fine. But if I create a new track then do anything else other than import the track (as the next step) it dosen't import. Don't know if that is you're problem or not, nor do I know why.

Try hitting Ctrl + End in Track View, see where that takes you in the project.

CJaysMusic To solve this you may want to disable or enable import at original time stamp in the global options. Cj This works and is ok if you're only importing a track or two. But if you're importing like 16 tracks and thy don't all start at zero then it can get quite messy. Mike

PT and Logic use a 1 hour SMPTE offset, 01.00.00.00, while Sonar uses 00.00.00.00 so importing a wav file that begins at 00.00.00.00 in Logic will appear at the 1 hour mark, 01.00.00.00, in Sonar. If you want your timestamped wavs to show up properly you should leave "Always Import Broadcast Waves At Their Timestamp" checked in Global Options/Audio Data and also check "Apply SMPTE Offset To Broadcast Wave Timestamps." Now, in Project Options/Clock, change the SMPTE/MTC offset to 01.00.00.00 and your files will show up where you want them. I wish it was a global rather than per project option but, oh well, ... Hope this helps. Jon CJaysMusic To solve this you may want to disable or enable import at original time stamp in the global options. Cj This works and is ok if you're only importing a track or two.
