Make that (at least) two positive votes! Great idea to focus getting started threads in their own subforum, as those sometimes get lost in the shuffle. Now you'll just have to figure out how to keep all of the "I'm new to SONAR, and I want to know when you'll have a Mac version" and "I'm new to SONAR and I want to know when you'll be implementing VST3 support" threads out of the high visibility Getting Started subforum.

Any chance you will have a "Get unstuck" sub-forum for troubleshooting?  Or how about a "Get deep" for the intermediate users?  Huh, I got another one..."Get it done" for the more experienced?  How's this for a title, "Bring it all together" for mastering help.  For mixing we could go with "Mixing a Masterpiece"... Nah, too pretentious, maybe "Level the Playing Field".  Oh, and for integrating  hardware, "Connect the Dots."   Well it's a work in progress...there's another one.

Kind regards,

Hi guys!

I'm a newcomer at this site and I need some help from you people regarding SONAR 3. I use this program as an amateur since quiet a time, however I recently experienced some incident that I really need some help with.

First of all I realized that my recently the tracks - which I recorded earlier on my computer - aren't in the same time anymore. I realized it first when I sent some of my ".cwp" files to a friend who has  exactly the same SONAR and still it's out of time. Like it would have been slided or something... Then the same things happened with me on my computer, too.

Now, I thought it could have happened because I changed my computer but it's just doesn't add up logically. I made some records which are perfectly in time since ever (and I made them a long time ago). They are fine on my computer but at my friend it's out of time.

Then there are some new records which were in time on my old computer but not anymore on my new... How is it possible? What do I do wrong???

The other thing I don't get is with MIDI. I recently started type melodies in MIDI through staff view and from time to time it happens that it some of the notes are either not sound at all or sound totally differently and strange. I tried everything with those single notes (delete, re-write, copy, modify... etc.) without any success. What could it be???

Could anybody help me with these things please?

Welcome James.

Yeah the videos help a lot as does working through the tutorials.
If you get hung up on something come to the forums and ask away.

When you come for help it helps us to know what you're working with.
As in PC specs, soundcard/interface and some of the basic settings under Option/Audio depending on your issue.

There is a learning curve with all the new toys you purchased. It's easier if you pick one thing you want to learn, learn it, then move to the next task. It'll all come together pretty quickly.
It gets too confusing if you try to learn it all at the same time.

Enjoy yourself. Good times ahead.

Hello,

I am definitely a newbie here.  I just bought the sonar le/ ua-25 ex bundle and have hooked it up to my computer. I am running pc with xp.

I did the sample and apparently have it set up correctly.  But beyond that, I don't even know where to begin.  I guess to start, I have hooked my guitar into the front port and tried playing it. But I have no idea how to record or anything.

Was a set of instructions supposed to be part of the bundle?  I don't know where to begin except that it would be helpful if I had some advice - step by step - on how to start a recording?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Newbie I am. I'll post this question here, too. If I load a MIDI file into Sonar, how do I assign various Sonar instruments to the individual tracks? There must be an simple way to do that.

this is not the place to ask that question
see where it says        "post new thread"?

but you need to do the tutorials and you will have it all laid out for you
just follow the steps

Hi,

I'm using Catewalk score writer with MIDI files (turned into csw). Above the score I have several instrument changes (flute, piano, etc) and I know how to change these instruments in the menu. However, I would like to know how could I modify and entroduce new intruments (not changing previous ones). Do you know where's the menu to introduce new instruments?

Best regards!

SONAR is digital audio workstation software. It runs on an operating system such as Windows 7. I'm afraid I don't understand the rest of your question.

insert the synth you want to use..then import the midi through file/import/midi..send it to the track and whala..check your routing

Guitar Tracks Pro is a Digital Audio Workstation made by us - Cakewalk. So is SONAR. Pro Tools is made by Avid.

my conexant hd audio on Hp laptop cannot be found by Sonar 7 as a WDM device. BUT other applications  e.g. Synthfont, list all it's components as WDM in the asio4all panel.
Why can't Sonar use the conexant except as MME devices???

Hi, I'm completely new to the forum. I'm working with Sonar 8.5, manually inputting notes using Soft Synths.
For some reason, I can't get the Portamento to work on any of the synths. Have tried switching it on (Lol), and adjusting Portamento time, but no joy.
can anyone help please?

Also, is there a way of adding pitch bend to an existing soft synth note?, and how?

thanks

Tim

Are you recording the guitar with a mic through an amp or plugged in directly?
Also check to see your volume fader on the track and see if there even is a waveform on the clip.

I posted in the Pyrco software forum as well - but I am frustrated with a recording I've already made. I have an hour and 34 minute recording but I can only accress about 1 and half minutes of it. when I first open the recording the time keeper on the right hand side of the screen shows that there is 1 hour plus of audio but the the green box on the bottom will only allow me to play 1 minute of it.... Can someone please help? I'm going to be in BIG trouble if I can't access the rest of that audio.

As you propably have noticed you can't get much answers here, because the questions & answers section is a few rows down, below the dividing bar, where all other folks have written their posts.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Hi Everyone,
I'm a noob to Sonar. To make a long story short, I bought Sonar 8.5 Studio a year ago, but I couldn't get it to run on my laptop. With the help of a friend, I just got it running last week. I was pretty overwhelmed by the interface. But now It started making sense.

This morning I was working on a song and I clicked something by accident. The default view changed. The left payne that is normally open when you work on a track is gone. How can I get the default view back?

Many thanks in advance for you help and replies!
