ProChannel global on/off? - March 17, 12 1:42 AM ( #1 )
Is there a way to turn all ProChannels in your project on or off?...similiar to bypass effects.  Some are on, some are off...when you have 50+ tracks its quite the tedious chore to check each track as your mixing.

Have you tried selecting all tracks and switching them off using Ctrl?

In X1d, the Ctrl modifier works with nearly all parameters in Console View - give it a try.

And that god damn E key binding. Ugh!!!!

Any particular reason why you're freezing tracks?

That's one thing I've never felt the need to do. I freeze synths routinely, but never tracks

Jonsey,
Sorry for the mistype / misunderstanding.  I was talking about freezing synths.
I would rather freeze the synth then use the PC. I know I do a little tweaking before but still would like to tweak after freeze. I know not really a hassle for a one output synth but when I'm freezing superior drummer with multi outs it becomes a pain.

The ctrl + Click method works on all PC parameters as far as I can tell, certainly the on/off buttons anyway.

Thanks again FBB. Yeah, it works for open close also. I just put in a feature request the other day for this

FBB,
Does that work when they are greyed out? Or frozen? That would be nice.

You can choose what gets included in a synth freeze by right clicking the freeze icon. I always make sure Fx are NOT applied.

I don't know whether this applies to the PC as well, time to go and experiment.

if the PC is frozen by default then this is a MASSIVE oversight surely

I will take a closer look at the options for freezing synths again. However,  i dont think that option to not freeze the PC  is there. I could be wrong. Thanks again Jonesy.

Mike,

I've just investigated this and can happily report that the ProChannel does NOT get frozen when you apply the synth freeze.

But you do have to right click the freeze option and untick Track Fx.

As far as freezing goes, the PC is treated as part of track Fx

You only need to set this once - the option is global and applies to all projects

I know

In retrospect, i can remember this being an issue in earlier incarnations of X1 when the PC would be frozen when the synth was frozen.

Glad that's not the case any more because I like to mix as I go, getting the sound I want before more instruments are added

Thanks for your insights into this Bristol. Why has this slipped under the RADAR for so many people until now?

Re:ProChannel global on/off? - March 17, 12 12:44 PM ( #16 )
This was implemented in a patch to allow PC not to be unavailable after a freeze of a synth.  Before the patch when you froze a synth PC was not available. This had nothing to do with whether PC was employed before the freeze or not.

So those like me that routinely forgo FX prior to a freeze were left without the use of PC after the freeze.  Now all is well.

Re:ProChannel global on/off? - March 17, 12 12:58 PM ( #17 )
The problem with control grouping is some PC's are on and some are off, when you control group the entire project it will simply reverse the on/off of the track(s) and you still have the same problem of having to check and see which ones are on and which ones are off.

A global on/off like bypass effects would be really useful.  I thought it might exist but I guess I was mistaken

Have you looked to see whether or not you can keybind it?

I don't recall coming across this setting, if it indeed does exist, but it'll only take about 5 minutes to go through the list

I have to add a +1 to a global button for this function. I think its a great idea.

Global effects on / off includes the ProChannel.

John T -
Global effects on/off is not turning all PC on/off in my project, are you having different results?

Edit for confirmation -

Global effects will turn PC on or off on pro channels that you have not manually turned on or off.  If all the ProChannels in my project are on, then I turn one of them off...  The global bypass will not turn that one on or off any longer, it will remain off until I manually change it.
Having the global option would be just as useful as say, the global solo or mute buttons which I use all the time.

It does work, though the way it's indicated is a bit confusing. The blue lights on the modules stay as they are. But each ProChannel's master light switches on and and off.

I can't swear to it but I thought the global FX bypass included bypassing the PC doesn't it?

EDIT: That's a yes then.

Ah, I see what you mean. Yes, the effects switch is a Bypass rather than an on / off.

Im extremely unhappy to report that this I not what happening here in my setup. PC is still greyed out when I freeze a synth track with FX not applied. Tried a number of projects a couple new one. The same thing happens. PC greyed out and no control. Very frustrating.
