ToneBoosters ReelBus+ Updated Version 2.9.1 – Sep 7, 2013

All plugins have been updated to version 2.9.1; new downloads are available at www.toneboosters.com

Version 2.9.

TB ReelBus is an analog tape recording simulator that aims at accurate simulation of all properties related to tape, including its frequency and level dependent saturation, inter-modulation effects, bias dependencies, tape hiss, asperity noise, wow and flutter, and clipping of electronic circuitry. It is especially suitable for bus processing (including the master bus) to subtly sweeten and enhance the sound.
TB ReelBus currently contains 7 preset recorder simulations, which can be adjusted individually by offsetting the tape hiss, asperity noise, amount of spectrum and saturation processing, and alike.

I tried it - I liked it - I bought it.  It's three cups of Starbucks I won't drink if I want to rationalize the purchase (who am I kidding I'm still going to get my Starbucks).

i'm using it since one week and my first thought was : wtf ...!!

Very good for the price , even some in GS compared it to UAD's and they really love it and place it on pair with them sonically !!

the gate and limiter are excellent also !

This on the PC would be a dream !!

This TBRealBus really is impressive.  I would never have imagined this kind of quality at such an affordable price.  I don't think it will replace my Magnetic II or Kramer, but it will be in the toolbox and will be optioned/tried out.  Who knows, it could find its place in some projects.  Wow!

For those who want magnetic tape warmth and who can't afford NF's Magnetic II, Wave's Kramer Magnetic Tape or UAD's Studer, this TBRealBus is a wonderful option, a must have, a real no-brainer for under $10 Euro  = less than 14 US dollars.  Wow!

I'm falling in love with more day by day.  I had not used any of the Tonebooster plugins prior to this one, but I think I'm going to buy the Track Essentials bundle after demoing it for a few days now - there are some nice little gems in there, extremely simple to use with some really nice results.

I've also been playing around with their free TB EZQ - talk about a simple EQ tool.  Whats more simple than an Cartesian coordinate system that you just move the reference point till you find a sound you like with easy labels for Tinny, Warm, Dark, and Bright.

It's kinda funny especially regard to the tape sat stuff as I've been championing JB's excellent plug-ins since they were free in particular 'Ferox'.  It seems kind of odd that now you have to pay for them (albeit very little) that more folk are starting to see their worth.

No doubt if he started charging $50 each for them they'd start to sound exponentially better.

Or am I just a cynic?....

All of his plugs are actually useful 'tools' and do that little bit they are supposed to do really well.  I'm a long time fan.

Having played a little more with the TBReelBus last night, I also wanted to let others know that it is very easy on the CPU, almost negligible drain on my system. Demoing it proved that this one is a keeper. I am buying it.

Based on what Jonbouy says, I am going to take a closer look at the TrackEssentials as well.

The great thing about it is it isn't an analogue box wannabe, it's actually designed to perform in the digital domain as am out and out bit of DSP goodness.

If you are confused what the heck is meant by the often used word 'character' in the context of a limiter, then this is the one for you because it's totally free from any added mythical faery dust.

This plug is definitly usable. That little radiator plug from a week ago was so deleted. TB's Reelbus is nice!

I wish they would come up with TB RealTalent!

    Hi
Sorry not chipped in before about this but have been travelling.
I've used Jeroen's stuff for years and have most (if not all) the ToneBooster line.
As others have said, Barricade is a great limiter, but all his stuff is excellent.
I shall be purchasing this ASAP!
    Cheers

Absolutely true...Many punters are listening with their eyes and the perceived "value" is often tied to how attractive the GUI is and how much they paid for it

Did I miss something or is there a set price or appearance when quality is guaranteed?  Immediately dismissing quite a few peoples opinions simply because it is an inexpensive plugin is sort of like those that think quality music can't be created without Pro Tools.

A little off topic here, but here goes:  How is the CPU hit on Barricade?  I hear the praises of this plugin and already have several nice limiters, but am always looking for one that is transparent and CPU friendly.  TB ReelBus is so CPU friendly that I have to ask if the baricade brother is equally so.

Ok dumb question. Do I simply replace the 2.7 plugins with 2.8? Delete old and replace with the new? I know you keep the keyfiles. I haven't purchased yet for this reason. I wanted to go through the update process once before I screwed something up.

Exactly,  keep the key files, delete the old  & replace with new.
I drag them out of WinZip & into the folder or copy+paste.
