New forum needed... the pub.

Just a little reminder for those of you who are "just blowing off steam", your lives are no harder than any others. I think if you look around, you will note that most of us can control ourselves. I think its time to learn to be adults. However, as it has been clearly demonstrated that there is a complete unwillingness to consider others by the Coffee House Gang, and clear you only want things your way, I propose we lobby the PTB to create a new area just for the those who aspire to nothing more than Beavis and Butthead levels of "humor". That way, they can post all the idiocy they want, while those who want to be a little more evolved can have a place to discuss the things they like without a pile of inane post hijacking replies and pointless threads (or childish tantrums like the recent mass postings).

Maybe someone more evolved than you will point out that insisting on getting the last word, beating a dead horse and criticizing others who have a different point of view isn't "mature". Sighing sadly and just letting it be would be the mature response, IMHO. And maybe the childish tantrums aren't childish tantrums so much as deliberate statements. But a more evolved person wouldn't be caught dead making such points. Sigh.

On the idea of forums, the idea of a 'Pub' style forum I would like to suggest is one that allows the 'stupid' posts/threads or what have you to exist. One does not need to be serious all the time, just as one can have serious threads as well. To me, it should not be a matter of either/or...it can be both If everyone took life a little more sanely it might be a better forum...these things just do not occur over night however. You want to see a more adult style forum then treat those you see as different as if they were adults.

What do you do with a child who deliberately throws all the eggs on the floor because he wants toast when he is told he is having eggs? Sigh sadly and do nothing? Maybe you do... I dunno. There are mature ways of making statements, and then there was the way Reece chose. A choice I have zero respect for. You guys are even worse than John upstairs. Here you pretend to be "better" than him, but the reality is far different. But whatever. Just continue on with your jas and ams and bacon, Beavis. I am done. You win. The sandbox is yours.

You guys are even worse than John upstairs. Here you pretend to be "better" than him, but the reality is far different. Again with that broad brush, you'll notice that Steve's now famous post was actually made by John upstairs in the first instance and I made a point of totally agreeing with that version of it before Steve posted all but the same message here. John's newer version was distinguished by the fact that it didn't contain the inflammatory thrust that the one he posted directly here a coupla weeks ago did. When you are being general could you at least be specific.

Jon, when I first posted about "Gangs and Bullies", I was not trying to point specific fingers at specific people or actions, but trying to get us all to consider how we are acting, consider how many complaints there are about the CH being a "clique". What this is coming down to is simply a few who want to be unfettered in anything they say or do, but doing so at the expense of the rest who want a bit less anarchy. A bit more respect in threads. To be taken seriously, even when people do not agree with them, or are bored by the topic. If this is wrong, then I want no part of it. The worst part is, the past few days have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is a clique or gang. Why do these same people not practice what they preach... instead of hijacking threads and subject lines because they are bored, simply leave them alone instead? What is good for the goose is good for the gander. Maybe my meter is wrong, but it seems to me that the "Majority" is speaking right now. Many voices are all asking for the same thing. Clean it up. And I will confess that some of those voices surprised the sh*t out of me.

People will do what they are going to meantime. I visit other places too, the majority here will decide even without a rally, election or individual vote. If it doesn't change for the better it will go under conversely it will improve. All I can do is take care of my own input which currently doesn't include input about the input of others.

It is just that we appreciate, or learn to appreciate, each one for their own unique ways of doing things. I'd like to think in terms of inclusion, rather than, exclusion.

John T Let me get this right... you want an off-off-topic area? I don't know but I think someone has done a "PC modules" on the forum and made it compulsory to read all posts. I think that is what has happened, I can't make it out. I'm watching on with my usual morbid fascination.

Where will it end? "I'm really disappointed with some of the behaviour recently in Off Off Off Off Off Off Off Topic. It reminds me of when Off Off Off Off Off Off Off Off Off Topic went bad, and had to be ejected into space".

I know I've been here quite some time and should know to whom you refer so at the risk of sounding like a stupid would you please tell me who the members of the CH Gang are so I can make a determination if it really exists or is just an imaginary gang that you've had a run-in with. Hell, I may be part of it and not even realize it.

I was in a gang once. Well, I was the only member. We couldn't agree on our identity. For awhile, we were The Losers, then we were The Outcasts. Those were seen as too mainstream, so we tried being The Obsequious. That didn't stand up to the challenge process, however. Eventually, I was kicked once they developed standards.
