EZ Keys and Future Ad Paks - May 06, 12 3:29 PM ( #1 )
Since this seems to be the place in the know for all our lil toys.. I just bought EZ Keys and love it. Anybody heard about any pending adpaks that Toontracks will be offering soon?

Haven't heard anything yet.  It does seem that expansion packs will be coming in the future; Expansion libraries have certainly become essential and valuable in the EZDrummer line.  I am sure someone here will let us know they are coming, when in fact they are launched.

Did you watch the groove3.com vid on this "toy"?

Apparently you can extract piano parts form commercial MIDI files and create your parts based on that style.

I would sure like adpaks but that feature alone says they may not be "necessary". Exciting times.

Just for clarification so that someone doesn't read something into your statement, you can cut up midi files and then use them as a basis for modification inside of EZkeys.  This isn't any kind of automatic thing.

Some folks have misunderstood that EZkeys works something like Band In a Box, Jammer or Jamstix and have been disappointed.

so basically it "works" like EZ Drummer.  you audition and place MIDI loops in your MIDI tracks to output to EZKeys for sound.  just like you would for EZD - audition and place MIDI loops in your MIDI tracks to output to EZD for sound.

The difference is that you can modify the loop inside of EZkeys and drag it into your project or drag it into the EZkeys browser and save it for a later time.

Anybody know of any good sources for free or paid piano midi files? I just bought ez keys and am waiting for my download link to come. The EZ piano sounds pretty good, but I might output it to another source if I buy the 8Dio 1928 Steinway. What do you guys think of the sound of the EZ piano after playing around with it a while?

You like free? So you want free midi files, right? Well, here I did the homework:
http://www.free-midi.org/

It is free, and there are more sites out there. This is one of the best.

They added a pop rock midi pack today!
I had hoped that when the expansion packs came out that they would be more like the EZX expansions which had different sounds not just new midi files/grooves.  This Pop/Rock EZKey addon is just midi files, no new piano sounds.  I hope they do plan to do real piano expansions.  If they only do the midi expansions, I suspect that they will only be for sale directly (only?) from Toontrack (just as the Midi drum packs are primarily available from ToonTracks store).  Does anyone know if this Pop/Rock kit will actually be sold by 3rd party vendors?

Yep, they are sold by third party vendors. In the UK, Time+Space are one outlet who get to sell most of Toontrack's range and here is the latest http://www.timespace.com/...(serial_download).html , which is a serial download.
