So Action Strings and Session Horns are what's in the next version of Komplete - I wonder what else? I seem to be losing track; isn't Komplete normally foisted on us around this time of year??
For a bit of fun we've just done a cover of I'm Waiting for the Man by Velvet Underground if anyone would like to hear it

Yup pretty soon I'd expect. Disclaimer: I have no inside knowledge. I'll gladly pay a $199/$249 upgrade if I get The Giant, Action Strings and Session Horns.

it's normally august time ish they do a new version.. must be running behind schedule

thing is the last upgrade to me was just a load of recycled sound packs and the kulling of kore.. so they can "get lost" pretty much

Looks like I'm going to have to have some of these new ones, Action Strings and Session Horns. I may only have the money for one more purchase of some kind, so I too will have to wait for Komplete 9 to see what it consists of. I especially hope to have Action Strings.

At first I thought this was gonna be just a bunch of pre-recorded phrases with different articulations...which I would have zero use for.  But after watching the tutorial video it looks like I'm sunk.  It's definitely on the "acquire" list.  Dern it.

Not impressed by these demos at all, sound synthy & dated.
Much better libraries out there.

As I already have First Call, Mojo and all the Kontakt and Sampletank, Garritan as well as most of the "samplemodeling" ones and others.  What are those "better libraries"?

PS:  I should point out that I'd get this strictly for the ease of adding articulations (i.e. doit, fall off, rips, etc...) and that I'm mostly interested in POP and R&B usage as I already have my orchestral needs more than covered.

Chris Hein for starters. I think half the problem are NI's demos, they're usually horrible.

That cost a hell of a lot more. You're looking at $300+ for the Chris Hein ones for example. I think these NI horns sound fantastic for the price. Didn't find them too synthy at all.

I had just got the Maschine xgrade to Komplete 8 for $199 so would happily pay that sort of upgrade price for Komplete 9 if it has action strings but tis likely that package Am likely to be in Komplete 9 ultimate no?

I guess that's what makes a horse race...I've always thought of the Chris Hein stuff as spotty.  Go figure.  For orchestral stuff Project Sam has some nice stuff but I too think (especially considering the ease of articulation use) these will sound nice in pop/soul/funk type stuff...which is what I'm looking for.

Too right I say !.

I just checked this out (thanks Bapu), and I'll be grabbing this when I get back from the farm. It's perfect for some work I've got to get out ... sheesh, the timing couldn't be better !. I won't be able to wait for the Komplete upgrade, but such is life :-)

Usually, cliffr, if you buy something from NI and then upgrade and it's included in the upgrade then you can just sell your individual license to someone else. Obviously, I haven't checked up on this product and its resale as it's new. There must be loads of people sitting on individual licenses they haven't sold on.

Well, a while ago I learned that if a product is a downloaded product NI would not allow resale. Don't know if that has changed.

Yep downloads only are not for resale as far as I know and if it's only a download then it's unlikely to be anything other than NFR.

Do they do boxed versions of any of their new products nowadays? I haven't bought from them in years?

Cheers. Good they are still doing some (for people like me !). Worked out handy a few years ago when they did a massive sale on Komplete and they allowed resales of the boxed licenses. It easily paid for Komplete with just a few products.

I'm sure they sound better in use but the demos are poor. Always need to work with libs yourself to see where they excel or fail.

Please do, any tips or opinions. Interested in the auto voice arrange & how they sit in a mix.

Also if there's a timing offset between voices feature...

Incredible software for $119.

Tutorial vid at e-instuments site. 2/3 down the page. I didn't see this on NIs page.

I noticed that the Session Horn samples are 44.1. Does the Kontakt vst work well with higher sample rates? OldPal You've had it for what 48 hrs now, any words for us?

I wish.  I may get to use it in one of the three projects I've got to finish before Turkey Day.  If I do I'll post my dimwitted findings.  If not it'll probably be December before I wring it out.
