Session Drummer 1 in Sonar 7
Hi guys, I've used the Search Future, but have not been able to find anything. Is there a way to bring back session drummer 1 to control Either Session Drummer 2 or DFH Superior? Peace.

Hi there CJ. Yes and no. Session Drummer 1 was in my understanding a Midi Plug in. I had Vamatex Midi Expansion Set for SD1, so I'm Willing to use it with Session Drummer 2 or DFHS. Peace.

You can use SD1 with SD2 (its a poor mans EZDrummer combo - MIDI clips (SD1) + Sounds (SD2)). But it is no longer on the DVD, you'd have to install it from an older version. Also, there were some incompatability issues with Sonar 6 if I recall, not sure about Sonar 7.

Hi yes Session drummer 1 is a midi plugin and it still works well in 7! However it did stop working in 6 with a "there was a problem patching the effect" whenever i tried to add it. But after reading the forum i found that there is a fix available for 6 direct from cakewalk - so i Just mailed tech support and they sent me a patch, suggest you do the same. Have just tested session drummer 1 driving session drummer 2 in 7PE, works fine! (groovemonkee provide midi that works well in session drummer 1.) hope this helps.

It is a midi plugin. You will need a file called "SessionDrummer1Fix.zip" Cake has had it posted out in the open in the past and then not a few times. Email tech support for it and they are pretty quick to help. Good Luck

IF you have it already installed from a previous version then it work perfectly within sonar 7.0. Not sure if you can install it after you have installed version 7.0 I tried it once but I was unable to find the correct software files on the cd as its bundled within the exe and you don't get the option to install separately.

Take the CD from Sonar 5 or earlier - do an install, but use the option just to install MIDI FX. In Sonar 6 you also needed to get a new session drummer dll (that you had to email Cakewalk for) and put it into the Cakewalk MIDI effects folder. My hard drive crashed recently and I just went through this - Previously I had all the versions of Sonar (that I'd not un0installed) - but I didn't want to put them all on the new HD. I did the procedure above and Session Drummer 1 works perfectly - I'm not positive that you need the new dll for Sonar 7, but it obviously doesn't hurt. I still find SD 1 a quick way to work at times.
