MFX on Vista (32-bit)

Hi all,

So I am installing Sonar PE 6.2.1 on a clean install of Vista Business 32-bit on my laptop. SONAR installs fine but for some reason I cannot get any of my 3-rd party MFX plugins to show up. These include Musiclab's Rhythm 'n Chords and Ntonyx's JMT Orchestrator. I got JMT Orchestrator to show up as a VST plugin but it really should show up as a MFX plugin. I added the path of the plugins to the VST scan path, with no luck.

I also tried copying the plugins' dlls to the "Shared MIDI plugins" folder, with no luck.

Does anyone know how to get it to show up properly as MFX plugins?

They are probably not fully UAC compliant. Did you try installing them explicitly as administrator?
You can also try running regsvr32 on the dll's manually and see if that forces them to register.

OK, I will try that in a while (on my way to work right now) and report back what I find...

Noel: Is there any possibility of MIDI VSTs (i.e., VSTs with MIDI in and MIDI out) being used in a similar manner to MFX in the MIDI FX bin at some point along the line? There are a vast amount of MIDI munching tools in VST form but MFX seem to be getting thinner on the ground.

At some point - its possible. We really haven't had a lot of interest in that area from customers.

Okay, that's fair enough. Thanks for the reply.

OK, I ran the installers for these by right-clicking on them and selecting "run as administrator". That worked as the plugins now show up properly in SONAR.

Thanks for the help with this!
