Installing / Adding new MIDI Effects Plugin

I downloaded "MFX CC Map" from www.tencrazy.com. It came with a single DLL for the plugin and a batch file that just runs this "regsvr32 TcMfxCcMap.dll".

I put the DLL in the folder that holds the rest of the MIDI plugins and ran the little batch. I can't find anyway to make this thing "available" in Sonar. I checked the plug-in manager and it is not listed. Is there a feature in there to install a new MFX? If so, I'm not seeing it.

I'm running Sonar 8 64-bit

Thanks.

Have you tried hitting the "Scan" button?

Then exiting SONAR completely and re-launcihng?

The only scan button I see is to scan VST plugins. I don't see one for anything else. Am I missing something obvious?

Some MIDI plugins need to be registered with regsrv32 to work. This is normally found in the OS system directory. Often you can do this from the command prompt.

Thanks John, I did that with this command: regsvr32 TcMfxCcMap.dll -- still no luck, though.

If you install the Windows Shell Extensions (also from the TenCrazy site), you'll have the capability to register/unregister MFX and DX plugins by right-clicking on its .dll. I have all of TenCrazy's MIDI FX installed with this method (although the batch files should have worked for you, too).

It does scan for DX plugs too though...(they only show up in plug in manager AFTER a scan)....so why not assume it also scans MIDI plugs?

Sorry but the VST scanner just does that; scans for VST's that's how SONAR knows they are there. DX's on the other hand and MFX plugs are installed and a relevant registry entry is made and SONAR knows abut them that way. Sometimes if a plugin has a VST as well as a DX version you may think you've just seen it being scanned in the VST scanner but that's not the case.

    to the OP.

Have you checked in the Plugin manager that you are showing the default plugin layout? Are you making sure that its in the MIDi track fx box where you're trying to load the MFX plugin? You wont see it in an audio track fx box plugin layout.
Have you started SONAR again after running regsvr32? I'm not sure if you need to reboot. Be careful too as each time you run regsvr32 you'll either register or deregister it. Check in your registry by doing a search for the specific dll just to make sure it is registered.
