Multiple Monitors and Floating Windows

I just got a dual monitor setup going on for my studio and I had a quick question: is there any way to float Sonar's sub-windows (such as the track view or console view) so that they will appear in the second monitor without having to resize the entire Sonar window into the next screen?

Thanks in advance!

Track view cannot be floated. Click the top left corner of any other window, then click 'enable floating' in the menu that drops down. Click the title bar and drag the window over to your other monitor.

BTW, outside Sonar, any window (explorer, folder views etc) can be dragged to the second monitor.

Oh. I feel so stupid. I actually tried that but only on the track view so I automatically assumed the other windows couldn't. Are there any ways of making the track view float? That was actually the one window that I WANTED to float (which is why that was the only one I tried).

Yeah make the monitor you want your track view on your main monitor, and float the other windows to the other side.

Track view can float in 6. But I couldn't get it to do this in 5. I can now have track view spread across both monitors when needed. Wohooo.

I use dual monitors and I don't float anything because it got annoying... I just expand Sonar to both monitors so essentially it takes over my entire desktop. Sure, it's not "maximized", but just drag it to the extents of your desktop and you won't notice the difference.

Yea, I drag the Sonar window across both screens (finally got a video card for Vista!). The track inspector and track info is to the left. Since I mainly record one track or stereo at a time having that off to the left is not such a problem. When I'm working with softsynths or effects I have the left screen in front of me and can make adjustments to the said ss or fx while it is right in front of me. If I'm mixing I can keep the curser on the right monitor directly in front of me.

That system works well for me - it is only when setting up to record multiple tracks that is a stretch to keep looking off to the left. But you can always scoot the chair over of drag the left edge back to the right monitor.
