z3ta+ overload

I use z3ta+ with ACID Music Studio 7.0, and I'm having a couple of problems. 1st, upon inital launch I get NO sound from z3ta+. I have to go into my programs, and re-load a bank or midi bank. 2nd. I recently installed the "virus" version. This also happened with a few Pro Sound patches as well. A few patches DON'T work, and 22 patches overload ACID, I mean the meters jump to (+inf) and I have to quickly switch patches lest my expensive studio monitors blow!!! Obviously I have written down these patch names and stay far away from them. Also when this happens, I need to completely close z3ta+ and re-launch. What's going on? I am running the lastest version of z3ta+

Thanks

P.S. I've run across this problem with banks from KVR as well

    i think i had the same problem - fortunately there's a fix.

the only banks that worked for me in z3ta 1.5 were the 1.4 default bank - all the other banks sounded wrong/ had no sound and had patches that shut my audio off with massive cpu level spikes.

Here's what i did uninstall z3ta 1.5 and re install 1.4. Then save all your old banks prosounds, kire banks etc using 1.4. uninstall 1.4 and reinstall 1.5 - your old banks should now work. I haven't done it with the Virus Mod but you could try messing about with it along the lines of the above.

good news is z3ta 1.5 seems much lighter on the cpu esp. with the lower quality settings.

Apologies for hijacking the thread, but does anybody know how to deal with this issue if you have never installed anything lower than 1.5.3? I have the same problem with 3rd party banks - no sound, unless I mess with effects, turn limiter off, etc., but since I have never had any earlier version, I cannot use the fix described.

    ChristopherM,

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having this exact problem; but only have Z3TA 1.5.3 inlcuded with my Sonar 7PE. . .

Any way to achieve the remedy that Achamian was describing? Only other good possibility, mentioned by Rene in another thread, was switching quality to a low setting (then full quality in the final render).

Awesome instrument though--just now learning it.

    Thanks,

    Kevin

    Kevin,

Yes - I downloaded the demo version of Z3ta+ from CW's website, which happens to be v1.4. I then used it to do the fix recommended by Achamian. I can't remember what the limitations of the demo are, but they didn't seem to inhibit the use of Achamian's method at all.

FWIW, I installed the demo on a different PC, and copied the folders containing the Z3ta+ dll and the various resource-containing subfolders between machines (just to be on the safe side, although this was probably an unnecessary precaution). Then all I needed to do was to overwrite the 1.5.3 dll on the new PC with the 1.4.0 demo dll, open and save the banks, then copy everything except the dll back to my DAW. You can do this using the stand-alone host app for Z3ta+, as long as it and the dll are in the same folder and the right subfolders are present.

I used the same method for vanilla Z3ta+ and on the Virus mod.

I have found that in 1.5, some of the old presets that had the delay feedback level up (more than half), quickly overloaded the host (and threatened speaker blowouts).

Reducing the feedback level quickly restored things to normal (remember to save!).

    thanks ChristopherM and sarcazm;

I'll try both of these things-------I've also sent the question to tech support; I'll post here if they give me any different tips
