Help!! I must have entered the Twilight Zone...

I have used Cakewalk products since Pro Audio 9. I am currently using Sonar 6 Producer. This morning I recorded my youngest son playing two pieces on cello for a seating audition. The only effects I used were a little bit of compression and a little reverb. Playback for each piece sounded good before saving. We ate lunch then opened the files to export to audio and burn to CD. Each of the files now plays at 1/2 speed and one octave lower than originally played. It was perfectly alright when we played each one back before saving. I'm sure I have either done or overlooked something simple, but I have no idea what it could be. HELP!!

TIA,
Rick

Make sure that the Sample Rate of your sound card and Sonar match. HTH.

Rick, what sample rate and bit depth did you use for the recording?

Do this: go find the location of the audio files as they were saved to disk. Right-click, properties, "Summary" tab. What does it say? If the sample rate and bit depth match what you think was used for recording, then you should be all set on that end.

You description sounds like a sample rate mismatch -- like for some reason when you playback in SONAR the hardware is somehow set to a lower sample rate internally (e.g., 22.05kHz), and SONAR is trying to drive it at twice that (e.g., 44.1), resulting in half-speed playback.

Which driver mode are you using in SONAR?

Also, what "Sound scheme" do you have selected in the "Sound and Audio Devices" control panel ("Sounds" tab)?

I also had a similar issue where the sound card was taking a digital in and was synching to that external device's clock which wasn't at the desired rate.
