tascam 1884 users?

I know the new "beta" update fixed the probs with Sonar in XP, and I know there is a new
"vista" update on Tascams site, but how about the new "beta" and Vista together??
It seems to me I have to pick which one, function with XP, or less function with Vista.

Anyone with advice on this???

Thanks

Hi. I don't have Vista, but perhaps this will help you. There are three files involved.

One is the firmware updater 1.83. I've seen some info that says to be careful NOT to run this twice. I intend to follow up with this at the Tascam forum, but haven't done it yet.

The second file is the new FW-1884 driver, version 1.60. This is for both XP and Vista.

The third file is the SONAR control surface driver. It's this one that is in beta form. The version is 1.22. It is not on any Tascam website; you have to find it from another user's post on this forum.

You need both files two and three.

Thanks, I believe that clears it up.
We will see as soon as I get a chance.

Hi everyone! Hi, RioJazz! Is that you playin' the horn in your avatar? Cool, Man. I'd love to hear your band play some time!

OK, I'm the big mouth about the firmware updater.

Download it along with everything RioJazz says (if you don't have that updater on the disk), but I wouldn't use it ( the firmware updater) without first calling Tascam tech support ((323) 727-7617 ), or writing on the Tascam forum. You could also try to PM Muziekschuur here on the Forum. He was quite active on the Tascam Forum, and the CW Forum for Tascam products. He's an expert.

Your unit might already be updated from the factory(?). Using the updater unnecessarily is not gonna cause a meltdown, or signal for Superman, but just ask. Please?

    My 2 cents.

P.S. I updated my unit at least twice thinking the old problems were due to a need to use this file. I was rebuked by Tascam tech help. But the tech said once won't hurt. Our faders behaved erratically after our updating it unnecessarily.

Continued success for RioJazz and all.

Hi Rosefam6. Thanks for the tech support number.

Yes, that's me playing. I produced a CD of Brazilian jazz with some world-class sidemen. You can preview the first two minutes of each track at www.cdbaby.com/cd/mattfinley

    Enjoy!
